[Editor App] #9 Future Knight. Kingdom Kings By Startrekzooka!

...

For five days Ive been relentlessly searching for a game that Id deem as feature worthy, and to be honest it has been incredibly tough. Eighteen hours before these five days are over I decided to check out some of startrekzookas games. Having already had two games featured this year, ten overall, one of which chosen for an editor app I was hopeful that he would have another game which I could write about for my editor app. Although Future Knight. Kingdom Kingss thumbnail didnt exactly catch my eye in his game library (being not as colourful amongst his other games), I tried it out, aware of Startreks abilities in the shooter creator (and also conscious of the limited time I had to find a worthy game) and I quickly came to the verdict that this game was indeed feature worthy, and this was the game I had been looking for these past five days to write about. But what about it appeals so much to me? Lets have a look!

REVIEW

This game has a sweet story to go with it:

Five years have you remained in exile after the king's misunderstanding continuing to believe that what you have acknowledged of the existence of the future realm several years earlier is a hostile dynamite to the present world in the same dimension. But the day of execution, you desperately seek for asylum. Will the measures bind measures or will you meet your fate?

Were playing as an exile whos trying to escape death and seeking refuge outside the kingdom! Although I wouldnt necessarily say a story can make a game feature worthy, its always nice to have a plot to a game. From this story I predicted that Future Knight. Kingdom Kings would be an action shooter, and Id need fairly quick reflexes from the start. Although I did need those reflexes it wasnt for the reasons I had anticipated; instead I had to start launching mortars at the turrets as soon as the game started or else it wouldve drained me of a good deal of my health. Although a slightly slow start, these first few seconds of the game sealed how careful and cautious Id have to be when it came to conserving my health for the beginning of the game great start!

Now the gameplay of Future Knight. Kingdom Kings is very varied. From the start you have to conserve your health, especially after the beginning and the hot polies covering a significant portion of some of the early parts of the games playfield (typically, I dont much like games where health is drained from you by hot polies or mortars and there isnt anything that can be done about it, yet here it almost felt necessary, as we had a task to complete that would drain our health too much if it took too long), and then the game would move on to a completely different action sequence, and I never knew what to expect, but it kept me playing (despite the limited time I had to write a review about it) for a grand portion of time. Conserving your health and your array of weapons is critical to make progress, and it would continue to get more challenging as the game went on. Id most definitely say that gameplay-wise, this game does very well.

Future Knight. Kingdom Kings also boasts fabulous scenery. Maintaining strong gameplay in a scenic shooter game can be a challenge, yet it seems to me that Startrek has improved the gameplay using the scenery. The polies around the playfield both enhance the visuals and adapt the environment of the playfield to the tasks the player needs to complete to make it more challenging or more enjoyable (although in one part of the game I feel like the polies made the scenery a little bit messy and the gameplay slightly slow, but seeing as this only occurred once I can overlook it). The boundaries of the playfield are also designed in elaborate ways in some instances. These two ways are the only two ways I noticed Startrek use to enhance the visuals, yet he made a stellar job of doing this.

The placement was fairly average, enemies being evenly spread out, although recurrently able to be avoided without much effort. They did however have interesting areas to battle in; Startrek utilised polies and playfield boundaries very effectively. There was an almost perfect amount of space to move around in for each section of the game, no faults there apart from the fact that each of the spider-key battles were all in a fairly enclosed area, with nothing really individual about each of them. Also there seemed to be a lack of health towards the end of the game where it went from strategic conservation of health to avoid every enemy in sight. Id rather that we had enough health to be able to fight enemies with strategy, but not to be able to evade the enemies with such ease. Also, in one section, where there was a KOPTR whos landing place took up a two by two area covered by mudpoly, and on a couple of occasions the mudpoly was so inconvenient that I couldnt cross the two by two area fast enough, and the KOPTR landed on me and glitched me inside a bouncepoly. I doubt that Startrek intended for this to happen but it was incredibly aggravating. The placement wasnt bad, but it wasnt great either.

Ratings

Gameplay: 4.5/5

Scenery: 4/5

Placement: 3/5

Overall: 3.8/5

Phew, during the writing of this review I think I played the game about fifteen times, Im really determined to beat it Future Knight. Kingdom Kings scored a 3.8/5 from me, demonstrating entertaining, challenging and wide-ranging gameplay, vivid scenery and decent placement. Despite not catching much of my attention on Startreks game library, I thoroughly relished this game, and Im sure Ill spend a lot more time today working on claiming victory in this game! There is most definitely room for improvement, but the talent Startrek has proved he possesses has been poured into the making of this game. It definitely deserves a feature in my eyes. I strongly recommend you try it out! ;)

Thanks for reading my review of Future Knight. Kingdom Kings by startrekzooka, and have a fantastic day! :D
