This is Miracle Reviews, where we might just see a Miracle Game!

Introduction

Welcome to my 50th review and my 46th [MR]. Today I'll be reviewing GrandQuest by ravicale. Ravicale recently won EGD (I think) with this game, so this should be nothing but an excellent game then, even though this is his first featured plat for quite a while. I've played quite a few of ravicale's other featured plats and they seem to be great. Seeing that this game has nine levels, I'm prepared for a cracker.

Review

The game starts off with like an intro level to the game with an owl telling you what things in the game do. The first thing the owl said was that switches make unique things happen, which built up my excitement because I like puzzles and traps. It was pretty strange that that was the first instruction the owl said though, I thought it would of been something basic like use your sword to attack enemies. But hopefully switches would appear a lot in the game then since it was the first instruction.

This game seems to get more challenging the further you get. The first level seeems to just be some enemies and guides to how to play the game, then the second level includes some traps, next ravicale starts to add in some puzzles, I think you get the message. Ravicale also included challenging puzzles, even though you can't lose health from them. Ravicale has made this game challenging originally. Now I'm going to stop explaining about the challenge now and explain whether this game is repetitive or not. Well GrandQuest has different scenes in different levels at diffeent type of styles, which obviously means that each level isn't the same as the last. You don't normally need to think about whether the game is repepititve or not, because if it was repepitive then you'd be able to make a guess of what's coming next. And in this game, I never really had any ideas at all of what I'm going to come across next. I can't think of any thing at all in this game which repeats a lot.

There are lots of different enemies in this game in different levels. Ravicale didn't really do anythng unique with the enemies, they pretty much all seemed to be on paths. Ravicale has placed a good amount of enemies though and none of them really seemed to be squashed together or anything, but that's only because he didn't do unique things with them. Like I said, he just placed them on paths - why not do Archies shooting arrows through holes or probes shooting past ramp tiles, this would really step the game up a bit. All the enemies seem to take away health from the player in this game. Sometimes in games there are enemies that can easily be avoided, but that's not what happens in GrandQuest. Ravicale did do a good job with the enemy placements, I was just expecting unique things with enemies since this won EGD. Since this game has nine levels, I'd expect to see a lot of health earlier on in the game so I get to see a lot of what ravicale has produced in GrandQuest. And yes, there was a lot of health placed earlier than there would be in a one level game. There weren't many flaws in my opinion with the health.

There's a decent amount of puzzle in this game. There are lots of puzzles that are rare, some I came across I had never seen before. I've even used a couple of the puzzles in this game in my games. Puzzle seems to be what makes this game special, unlike with the placements. I'm impressed with the puzzles in this game.

Last of all is the action. Well the action in this game isn't bad, but neither is it excellent. There are some parts where there isn't much going on. But having said that, there are some times when you can't take your finger off the keyboard. I don't think this game was built to be an action one, but it'll still get a high score on action since I didn't get bored while playing. This game was entertaining and wasn't laggy which also increases the score of the action.

Ratings (Out of five):

Action: ____/_____

Game Play: _____/_____

Placements: ____/_____

Puzzle: _____/_____

Overall, this game deserves a 4.5/5

Is it feature worthy?

The big question though is "Is this game feature worthy?" In my opinion, yes, it is. All the categories I rated all had high scores with a couple of fives, meaning that I think this game is feature worthy. Although I think this game is feature worthy though, I wouldn't say that this is worthy of winning EGD. For a game to win the EGL I'd of expected all the categories to of been 5/5. But having said that, I'd say that this is probably the best entered in the EGD.

This has been a Miracle Review!
