Introduction:

Hello everyone, creatingames here, and as mentioned in the title, this is my first review for quite some time. My last review was back in 2013, so it's been over a year now. Anyway, I decided I wanted to get back into reviewing and I've chosen 'What's Your Name?' by boytucker. I chose this game because I wanted to find a decent enough game I could review, and I got a decent amount into this game so I've got quite bit to write about it. The game title seems a bit strange seeing as it doesn't seem to go with the game, but that combined with the thumbnail managed to pull me into playing this game, so I'm not going to knock it. Now lets get on with the review.

Review:

One problem with this game is that the start of the game is probably the hardest part of the whole game. Now in one way, having a challenging start is quite a good thing because this can get the user going and excite them. However, I found that the start of this game was too difficult meaning most of this game is hidden to players who can't pass the start. What I did like about it though was that it was quite addictive. I kept trying and trying until I finally passed it which goes to show it can be done with a bit of motivation. The only thing is though that from there onwards the game is pretty easy until the end where the game gets tough, so if you pass the start it pretty much means you're probably going to get to the end, which doesn't really work out as games are supposed to get harder otherwise there's not much challenge.

Most of the action in this game is at the start and the end of the game. There are a lot of enemies attacking at you and for me it wasn't too manic, it was just right and it excited me. However, the middle of the game was pretty much a let down because it had no challenge or action. It was just repetition of going through about five or six paths of speeders and nitro's and then a mega health at the end which completely makes up the health you lost each time. After this there was just a long path with a couple of turrets which really slows the game down. I don't understand why the path has to be so long because you have to wait about 30 seconds to reach another turret. The worst thing about this part of the game though was the mud poly's. Half of it was based on mud poly's. Honestly, they weren't needed whatsoever. All they did was just slow the player down and kill the action. If they weren't there, this game may have been a bit more exciting, but a lot of the time I was just going through mud poly's just holding down my mouse doing nothing. If it wasn't for the mud poly's, I may have tried this game again to beat it, but they spoiled the game in a way because it made it really slow.

The enemy placement was pretty average. There was a variety of enemies throughout the game, which is great to see, and they're also well spread out quite well without it being too overcrowded. I do have a few problems though. One is the mortars at the start. They have no impact on the game whatsoever. You can just go straight past the mortars by the side without them damaging you at all. The only thing taking health away from you is the hot poly, and at the end of that you get a mega health. You pretty much just lose a load of health from the hot poly and just regain all that at the end of the path. And these sort of situations where you lose a lot of health and regain it again through a mega health happens a few times throughout the game. The health placement was also a little bit dodgy in my opinion. After the start point of the game, I'm there with hardly anything, then later on I'm there with a full bar of health, then towards the end of the game, there's barely anything and I just die because there's loads of enemies and not enough health. But having said all that, it was decent enough as the game was at a pretty good difficulty and it allows you to explore well enough into the game without it being too easy.

Pro's:

- Very challenging

- Fairly action packed

- Variety of enemies

Con's:

- A little bit repetitive

- Bad enemy and health placement

- Mud poly's slow the game down too much

Ratings:

Action: ___/_____

Game play: ___/_____

Enemy placement: __/_____

Health placement: __/_____

Overall: 5/10

Conclusion:

I found it really tough rating this game. I could have give either of the categories a 2 or a 3, so I've given this game a 5/10 because that's pretty much in the middle. I decided to give the action and game play higher scores though because it is a fun game to play at the majority of times and I found it quite challenging with a unique sort of stealth like style put into it at the start and end of the game. The placement of enemies and health could be improved. I felt as if the enemies were a little bit just chucked in and at times there was too much health and at others not enough. Overall, this is a pretty good game and I would recommend giving it a go.
