The Dark Age pt1 is a game created by cytober

Welcome to my first review. Today I will be doing a review on 'The Dark Age pt1' by cytober. I've never played one of cytober's games before and because it was featured, I was looking forward to see if this game creator actually has good talent. The storyline was interesting and it left a bit of a mystery but I don't feel that it was long enough. Cytober was talking about a man called Simon walking along a station. The part I enjoyed in the storyline is that 'a horrible bomb blasted away half the station, now infested by robots and destruction' - doesn't that just make a good picture in your head! Cytober could of added in something like 'Simon was shocked and went to hide behind a bush' then you could know Simon's feelings at that point, but instead, cytober decided to do a brilliant ending by telling us 'Simon must find the way out of the cramped station, or face extinction. Now lets take a look at cytober's first featured game.

I'll walk you through a small amount of the game. When you start off, you come across a touch floor that you go through, and below it was many power ups. Now c'mon, you need to work a bit harder to earn one power up but a big bunch of them at the start of a game is just ridiculous. Next you'll come across a probe in front of a teleporter - average enemy placement. Through the teleporter you'll come across two steamers and a crusher. Now I don't know about you but I didn't lose a single bit of health from those hazards.

This game is dark and you have a powergluv instead of a torch, I think that's a good idea for this game. There is a point where you have to try and get pass barrels on some bouncers which isn't very clever and neither was putting a mutant near the water because they can't swim that well so they're both bad placements. In some games you might come across a trap when you don't expect it and I think that will go quite nicely here but cytober didn't put in any traps or puzzles so the only time you need to think hard about is when your trying to avoid falling into the lava. When you tried to get across the lava on a slider, there wasn't enough action. Cytober could added in some bats at that point so then you're more likely to fall into the lava. Most of these ideas I'm mentioning are to make the game more challenging.

Now lets look at the scenery, wait a minute, there's hardly any. One light at the start of the game above a few wall panels - I don't understand the point in that. Cytober also put some lights that are only just visible at a top of a lava pool, you don't need those because you already have a powergluv to help you see. This game should have wall panels everywhere in the station. However, the use of the block tiles were great and that's one of the only few things that are good in this game.

The Dark Age pt1 is a very average game. It also needs more action and needs to be longer. This isn't a bad game, it's just that it's not feature worthy.

Ratings (Out of 10):

Power-ups: 3/10

Enemy placement: 2/10

Scenery: 4/10

Action: 5/10

Addictiveness: 7/10

Overall: 4.2/10

If you die the first time you're most likely going to want to play again but like I said, this game is very average and is not feature worthy.
