Amusement is a game created by babybuster4ever

Quick Note

To be honest I don't like the platformer, personally I think it's boring, hard to control and is basically a pain in the butt to play. However despite my opinion on the platformer I thoroughly enjoyed playing Amusement by babybuster4ever. (also I didn't get past the first level, read the review before you criticize me)

Review

Honestly I was dreading this game, because of course of my hatred towards platform games, however I found this game quite a pleasure to play or as the title suggests...amusing :)

Ill start with the theme of the game, you seem to be in a castle or some kind of ancient structure surrounded by ninjas, dragons and lava. I loved babybuster's use of the grass to make trees for the courtyard section, personally I thought this was genius. However while it had some good ideas for the theme, it definitely lacked on a lot of architecture and detail. Not bad use of backgrounds and textures, however I had the feeling the the game just feels empty.

The game itself isn't too difficult, however I found that random parts of the game were extremely hard, then the next part would be extremely easy. So the game doesn't have a very good easy to hard variation. I also noticed that he didn't have any health, however he did have 1 extra life in a pit of turrets. Im not sure if the intension of this was to restore all your health as a sacrifice, but if this was the intension then I like this idea very much :D

The enemy placement was pretty average, all the ninjas were really there to fill up space, however I did like how he had the dragon kind of like the 'guardian' of the entrance to the next level.

Because of the many ninjas, I found that a lot of the time I was being overwhelmed, which isn't a good thing especially for a platform game.

In relation to the difficulty of the game, I found the first level easy (after a couple of refreshes) all the way up to the grapple part. Now I don't know whether it's just me or this applies to everyone but I find grappling puzzles to be the biggest pain in the #$%. And the way babybuster constructed his little grappling segment was a real disappointment, mainly because it was so straightforward and boring, not to mention a relentless fail for me to keep trying to redo it but having to go through the whole level again to try and get past it (which is also the reason I never past the first level).

So the game was a little repetitive, and after about 4 tries I had no intension of playing the game again, so perhaps babybuster could add some checkpoint's or something like that. Also there was no items or powerups (except of course for the grapple, except it doesn't really benefit the player), this was really causing me to lose all integrity to play the game.

On a positive note there is no lag and no glitches, which is a very good asset any game can have :D

Final Note

This game isn't quite feature worthy, with a little bit of editing however it might just make it, however I would recommend that you play the game because it is pretty fun. Good work Babybuster :D
