Introduction:

(sigh) EGD 8 reviews are still going on after 3 months thanks to lazy reviewers and hard games. Anyway, I'm here to review a rather interesting but sometimes rather annoying game, Reveal by vpopsiclev.

Review:

So this game is kinda short and interesting. It focuses on multiple concepts which will be explained throughout the review.

The thumbnail is kind of unique, I do give vpop credit for that. It's simply a picture of a dark forest which is level 4.

The first level takes place on what seems to be a beach island and go figure you're in the ocean (with two fish just swimming back and forth minding their own business). Here you're supposed to just jump around until you reveal (go figure) platforms by touching where they are.

The second one is more puzzly but still somewhat straightforward. It just revolves around finding what to do and glitching. The end may be hard to figure out though. Key word: May. We'll talk more about this level later in the review.

The third one is simply a boss against a weird creature that shoots out balls (not the dirty kind) and magically makes rolling skull balls (once again, not the dirty kind).

The fourth level is the most annoying as their are small platforms and you can't jump (although that would make the level too easy). Luckily that's the most annoying part and it's short. The second part releases a platform along white bars so you can see where the platform is and use your intuition to know where to land on it. The end is kind of weird and anti-climactic, it... You know what, I won't spoil it.

So yeah, only four levels. This game kind of feels like an unfinished product to me mostly because of that, and what is the switch on level 2 supposed to do? It's just there. You don't need it to complete the level. I think he intended it to have a purpose but rushed it a bit for EGD 8. At least that's what I feel like.

Luckily the game does have scenery. The first level is kind of drab in that sense but it picks up from there.

The placement of platforms is sometimes a bit annoying as it requires you to have a lucky jump or even a double jump (which was seemingly harder for me to do here) to reach platforms. Not necessarily a bad thing as it is kind of cool to provide them but it's mostly that one platform in level 1.

Overall, this game isn't bad but it could have been better if it felt more like a finished product. Anyway, now for the ratings.

Pros and Cons:

Pros

Creative

Decent thumbnail

Cons

Not very addictive

Could have been a bit more decorative

Annoying placement of second platform on level 1. Besides that, placement is fine.

Somewhat feels rushed and unfinished.

Conclusion

Now we have another EGD review. We're getting cl0se but there's a reason some games have yet to be reviewed. Lazy reviewers, and they're hard. This is Demonxz95 saying thanks for reading.
