Promess is a game created by gamecreating

Introduction

Hey guys, Demonxz95 here. Reviews are being done all over the place, which is at least better than EGD 8. Anyway, I'm doing a game called Promess by gamecreating. Gamecreating is not a well known game maker (no offense) and judging by his other games, I can see why. But is this game going to be a step in the right direction for him?

Review

First off, I actually want to talk about the title. Is Promess a misspelling of "promise" or is it meant to be spelled that way? Either way, going into the game, it's definitely not a pro-mess (see what I did there). He actually made a realistic looking structure here. What you're supposed to do in the game is to grab keys and adventure through a building to get 4 crystals. Sounds generic, because it is. It's not generic in a bad way, but it's just "meh" in my eyes.

Something I did praise The Sacred Grounds for was being able to confine the game into one simple area but keeping the game expansive. This game is not as expansive as The Sacred Grounds but it at least does its job correctly.

The scenery here is pretty generic. Not in a bad way but most of the tile and background piece are the same throughout most of the game. I remember when I did this in my games. It's not horrible because he at least put a bit of effort into the scenery, but it's not mindblowing, just normal. It needs it since the thumbnail for this review covers like 75% of this game. I'm not even kidding, this game is that short which I consider a con. It seems like a last-second entry and it probably was.

While most of the objects in this game are actually well placed, a placement flaw I found was the blue ring switch at the start doesn't give the player long enough to reach the blue ring path over the lava somewhat nearby. You pretty much have to backflip over it, at least the first time. That's the only flaw I found though. An archer in the small building might be annoying to deal with, but it's fine by me. The shark and leonard however can be annoying, but I don't know how to not make them that way.

Also the yellow ring path above the lava pit with icicles is pointless seeing as how you can easily backflip over it. I don't think Gamecreating knows you can do this though.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Uh... I don't know what I can say other than it's not a noob game.

Cons

Not too creative

Not too addictive

Blue ring switch over a pit of lava seems impossible to do without backflipping, and seeing the lava pit with icicles can easily be backflipped over unintentionally, I don't know what to say about this.

Very short

*Somewhere Between* (this is new)

Decent gameplay

Decent scenery

Conclusion

This is not a GREAT game and it certainly isn't feature worthy but it's not bad by any means in my opinion. This is definitely a step in the right direction for Gamecreating.
