Okay, so can you read any part of that up there? Why did I do this? Now to get serious, we're doing a review of Connection by Benno98. Benno is a pretty well known member on the forums, and used to be pretty well known on the forums for his Minecraft games which he deleted because he thought they didn't deserve the views it got. It appears that he's also going on the path of trying to make real games now. I was the one who featured Incinerator and Youngcaliman was the one who featured this game. Does he deserve it? Well, spoiler alert, yes he does but we're going to review this game anyway as reviews are a good way of knowing what makes a good game good and a bad one, bad as well as look over a few problems within the game because even really good games can (and will) have problems in them. But we're not here to try to shove negativity in a good game, we're here to analyze it and see why it's a good game.

Table of Contents

Wait, why is this here? This is a review, not a book. We don't need a Table of Contents here.

NO! NO!! NO!!! I'm abandoning that gimmick.

So before we get into the actual gameplay of the game, we're starting with the concept of the game. The concept of the game is to connect some pipes so that a circuit can reach the exit. This is very reminiscent of the hacking system in Bioshock but is a new concept for Sploder. At first, circuits will be simple with very basic pieces, but later things will get quite a bit more complicated with new piece types, more complex and longer circuits that cross over themselves and even trying to connect more than one circuit at the same time!

So, how is the gameplay? Well if some of the levels have already been seen before, the game can get a bit boring and tedious (especially if you have a laggy computer like me, dammit laptop, why did you have to break) because you know exactly what to do, but it's always very intriguing and interesting trying to find the solution to a level you don't know or remember, combined with new pieces to form new gimmicks and a route to completing the level. The difficulty of the game however is never too hard. It will take a bit of brainwork to figure out a working path for each circuit, but never was I ever frustrated with the difficulty of the game. It's a game that everyone can play and beat, contrary to some featured games which will require intermediate or elite skills to be able to beat. The game also has a time limit for each level which is very generous (though part of that may be because of lag on my end) and it shouldn't really be a problem (except maybe on the last level if it takes you a while to figure the path out). Speaking of difficulty though, this game does have a relatively unbalanced difficulty curve. I found some of the later levels easier than the earlier ones. A difficulty curve however is hard to get right and I don't know how Benno could've made the game harder.

Scenery in this game is a very fitting industrial landscape consisting a lot of the colors, gray, silver and red. Now it's not all just bland shady madness with the background. You'll find some flashing on the pipes and orange scrolling bars and circular lights, all coming with a fitting music selection.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Creative

Addictive

Great gameplay

Not too hard but not too easy

Great scenery

Fantastic concept

Cons

Can be quite tedious and boring if one of isn't playing the level for the first time.

Conclusion

So, as you can see, this game is definitely a good one that you should try. With this game and Incinerator, I'm really interested to see what Benno will have in store for his future games. Demonxz95 out!
