Cancer is a game created by thunderboom

Game: Cancer

Maker: Thunderboom

Creator: Algorithm Crew (3D)

You know how I said I was reviewing Brotherhood? Well, I lied, I'm actually reviewing this game here. Enjoy!

~Pre-Thoughts~

Cancer is an incredibly deadly thing. Many people fight it, and so many people fail. It's a shame. It takes such a warm heart to create a loving tribute to someone who passed away, and that's exactly what this member did. Thunderboom (otherwise known as Gamekid) is quite a well known member for his 3D games and PPG's. Cancer is one of his Algorithm Crew games, you know, that creator that's pretty much forgotten now. But, he can change this forgotten creator into something spectacular. So, what I honestly expect from him is quite a lot (I think this was his SGD game too). His games normally include a range of different puzzles and action sequences, so I expect some decent action sequences, and unique puzzles. I've also noticed this guy's games normally have great scenery. So, I expect the scenery to be pretty much spectacular. There's a lot to choose from when designing a game like this. Now, I'm going to grab a box of tissues and hopefully pull through this.

*Review*

The thumbnail for Cancer was quite decent. Considering there isn't much you can do with the thumbnail for 3D games, I was honestly surprised. Thunderboom used a range of different colours and objects to make the thumbnail look attractive so that the people of sploder can enjoy his game, as well as being touched by the story, and crying bucket loads and wasting all the toilet paper, and then having to go to the shop to buy toilet paper, still crying. Yeah, I think you get it. Anyway, The thumbnail wasn't to get the attention for the views, but for the tribute to all of those who have fought cancer. That, my friends, is a person with a warm heart.

Wow, I'm already half way through my box of tissues... Anyway, the game overall was quite fun. It involved a bunch of action sequences and puzzles when honestly take a while to figure out (if you're someone like me who doesn't really know much at all about the algorithm crew creator). The excitement was live throughout Cancer with the use of different snaggers and enemies dotted around everywhere. However, there were some parts where the game just got tedious and just boring. Some parts of the game just get repetitive, like the overuse of snaggers and crate puzzles. Although, there was a lot of decent action that I thought made the game fun, and a good way to show the fight against cancer.

The game had a heart warming feel to it: you're a cancer treatment cell trying to fight off the cancer in a woman's body, which she has been fighting for 6 years. I'm sure we all know someone who had/has/had dies from cancer before. Well, thunderboom made this game as a tribute to a woman named Charlotte, who was fighting cancer for 6 and a half years, and has unfortunately died from it. Thunderboom has showed us that you can put your life ahead of it, and enjoy it, without being torn apart by it. Good on you, pal.

Cancer had a range of different puzzles, both new, and some of his own used in other games of his. They weren't simple puzzles, they were more challenging, and quite... How do I put this? Puzzling? Anyway, I found that the puzzles involved were one of the key points (aside from action) in this game, so they should be great. However, I found that some of the puzzles that thunderboom used were somewhat repetitive and it just got a bit boring over time. However, you do see a few puzzles that haven't been seen much before, so at least it's not a game filled with generic puzzles you find on an average game.

The placements were another one of the key points of the game. Most objects are placed precisely because they are needed for puzzles, and this is pretty much exactly what Cancer was like. They were needed to be so precise for all of the puzzles to work, and they did. Also, you don't really want to play a game the looks just completely sloppy. So, thunderboom made sure everything was in the right place so that everything worked fine, and it didn't look like a game your average 4 year old would make.

Pros:

Touching Story

Decent Gameplay

Scenery

Thumbnail

Cons:

Repeated puzzles

Tedious at some points

*Conclusion*

Oh, I'm out of tissues. I'm lucky I'm at the end of this now. Anyway, I felt like Cancer was a well made game with a decent (and heart warming) atmosphere to it. It had decent gameplay and puzzles, but it got boring from time to time. I felt like this game was feature worthy, but it shouldn't get anywhere further.

Well, I pretty much destroyed all of my mother's tissues, so I'm gonna have to head out and buy some more. I guess I'll see you later?
