Pre-Thoughts

Small platformers that have limited space for the player to move are games that I make myself occasionally, but I don't enjoy playing them. Most of them just seem complicated and irritating so I struggle to get any form of enjoyment out of them. It's normally difficult to move around the area which isn't good. Here we have Wave of Mutilation by flumpisback, a game of which I just described to you. It appears flumpisback is back. Wait never mind, this is his first game on this account this joke doesn't work. Anyway, I don't really know much about flump's game making abilities. As I already mentioned, I don't really enjoy these types of games. Not looking good for poor flump over here. At least he has the fact that he's a pretty nice guy to get him through the day...

Review

Off the bat (I took this straight from demonxz95's review because I don't think he realised but a lot of bats were used in this game and I found it funny) you can see that this game has some decent gameplay. To my surprise, the gameplay was simple and somewhat enjoyable and there was always something going on wherever you go in the game. It certainly kept my interest throughout the game. It's a real shame it was also kind of irritating. Much like every game like this, it was occasionally difficult to move around due to enemy placement not being good at times and the design was rather sloppy. One thing in particular that irritated me about the game was the amount of paths that lead me into thinking I was going to receive something worth my while. But no, all I would get was a cookie. I liked how there was a lot going on such as platforming and action and the game itself was more enjoyable than other games of this style and how it was fast paced at time making it rather exciting, but I also found it rather irritating at times and there wasn't really anything too special involved.

The scenery in this game is bland. Nothing was great about it, it wasn't really terrible. It was just bland. All that was really used was the same tiles and the same background. It occasionally uses ice blocks and heat blocks which make it look a little nicer (though I don't know it it was used for the gameplay or the scenery) but aside from that there wasn't really anything to it. This isn't a massive issue and it's something that flump can easily improve on in future games. I recommend that flump improves the scenery and make his future games look much nicer and less bland.

There isn't much else to say about the game, but really what did you expect? It's a short game that lasts around 5-10 minutes, it hasn't got a story behind it. Since there's nothing much to discuss, onto the ratings.

Conclusion

A relatively short review for a short game. My opinion on this style of game hasn't changed, but it's nice to see a fast paced, enjoyable game of this style. I can't say it's not a great game, just pretty good. I'm fine with this being featured and I'm glad flump got that feature. I recommend playing this game as it's definitely fun and re-playable.
