Rain Water I is a game created by haloing247

Hey everyone! GnashtyNaS here with my first review…of a shooter. Yes this is my sixth review; I’m just a really hard worker is all. I work so hard that even if I wanted to abuse the moderator powers which I’ve accidentally been given, I wouldn’t have the time to. But don’t worry, I don’t have the desire to abuse them, or of course the time. This game was entered in to my Moving Spotlight Reviews thread on the forums, so check it out if you want your game reviewed, or just post a link on my page! Anywho, I shall be reviewing Rain Water I by haloing247. Get ready folks, it’s the shooter, unfamiliar reviewing territory for me. In all seriousness I am scared.

Rain Water I doesn’t give you a story or anything like that, it just tosses you in this blue world right in-between two mortars that presumably don’t understand how big of a threat they are to each other. The goal of this game is to collect five crystals, however two of them appear in basically the same location as another crystal, so it’s really 3 crystals you’ve got to get to in that sense. So that’s not very daunting right, just three places to grab a handful of crystals? Yes, correct indeed. This game isn’t very challenging. All you have to do to survive in this world of blue is have your wits about you, use your radar, and use your ranged attacks to avoid combat. The only time you may actually have to restart the game is when you get stuck in one of the polygons during the only section of the game that could possibly qualify as any sort of puzzle.

As I’ve hinted at, this game doesn’t give you much for visuals and scenery; it is all just blue with a playfield that has an only mildly attractive shape. The reason I say this is simple: it is inconsistent. At times it goes for a straight edge, symmetrical Return-by-oggie77 look, but other times it goes for an abstract The Mines-by-Dudki look. This inconsistency caused it to feel messy. Oh and on the scenery again, I take it back; there is ONE tree in the game. Bravo.

The game is designed pretty well throughout the whole thing, but playing it over a few times it’s just…so short. After I had completed it I felt like I should’ve just completed the intro and then it was going to toss me into a new nightmare. I guess I’ve been playing too much Endless Funeral lately. The enemies that were placed in this short game were placed well, in the right places so carelessness would get you killed, but if you were a careful and smart player you could make it through most sections unscathed.

I guess I could say this game has a boss, as the third to last enemy you must fight is a blue key-spider. After that you just go grab a couple crystals and then backtrack to the now-accessible last two crystals. However with how regular these enemies are in shooters, and how easy of a fight it is, I hesitate to call it a boss. The game basically ends right as you feel it is getting started.

There is one trap to mention in the game, just a path you can take that is completely unnecessary that dooms you to pain and suffering, not really clever, just a way to laugh at you if you explore a bit too much. If you do die though, it’s no problem because you can complete the game in well under 4 minutes. Heck, you can almost complete it in the time that is the username of a user whose latest feature I referenced earlier in this review.

The Wrap-Up

This game ends way too quickly; it has virtually no scenery (One tree? Really?), no story, and nothing special at all to mention. It’s a completely passable title that doesn’t require any attention. But if you want a reason to play it, you can always start it up, go to the only tree-which is close to the beginning-and laugh. Or you could not do that, since that would be mean.
