Hiya.

I'm here with my 24th review, and I'll be reviewing an EGD game since they take priority. I search through the list of games left and my interests aren't high, but I came across Realm of Fog and thought I'd have a shot at reviewing it.

REVIEW

I fared pretty well in Realm of Fog, the gameplay was pretty quick with no lag present and the game had a nice feel to it. The storyline and game meshed together pretty well. We've all heard of Black Widow, right? Youngcaliman's first game inducted into the EGL? I'd say Realm of Fog resembles that sort of game a little bit in it's design and great puzzles (which I'll talk about more later). Realm of Fog, though, did happen to drift off and get a little boring (there was a fair bit of backtracking) but it seemed it was just part of the game.

(Note: Depending on your computer, if your browser is taking pressure from multiple tabs the game may lag)

Mat uses some objects in the creator in ways they haven't been (or rarely) used before. Realm of Fog thrives on the player missing a beat and getting stuck. Timing means a lot in this game, even a blunder from the get go could result in a fail at the oh no. Gett whut imma sayin', sistah?

The map design was exquisite and actually contributed to how the puzzles had to be completed and actually, for a minor part, a puzzle in itself. There isn't anything I can spot on the map that was without a purpose.

The puzzles were fantastic and mostly original, with an innovative feel they were top notch. I hadn't seen at least 4 of them before (or at least not in the way that they were used). I'm known to be pretty good at beating games myself, but when I first played this I couldn't progress two minutes into it without some assistance, it's just how perplexing the puzzles are.

I think Mat was really creative with this, these days new Plat puzzles are still there, but rarely uncovered and you often see repetitive games with the same old puzzles, Realm of Fog was not one of those games, it found a use for the lesser used objects and was fully creative with most of what it had to offer, kudos to Mat for that.

Unlucky not to make the top 9 for the Plat finalists in EGD because of a tough draw, I don't think Realm of Fog drew enough attention that it deserved, it's a great game, great puzzles and design. I'd like to see more like this from Mat.

FINAL SCORES

Gameplay: 8/10

Design: 9.5/10

Puzzles: 10/10

Creativity: 9.5/10

Total: 9/10

Oh, and a final anology, ~The Realm of fog comes once a year~ . Hunger Games anyone?
