[EGD] One More Round, Then I'm Going Home = King Of Hearts
Hiya, my second review for the day, let's keep those EGD games reviewed at a steady rate, eh? Review number 25, whew! I'll be reviewing King of Hearts by a kid named burningleaf.
Burningleaf was an unknown maker until EGD, from the screenshots we could all tell he had talent. From the get go the gameplay was slightly mysterious, very quick, mind you, I didn't get any lag to where I made it to which is a great thing about the game. It was fun, yes, but had the capacity to bore me occasionally, something creative, please?
The scenery was very good, just that red background blended together with the lighting effects (chosen effectively). There are a lot of things that contribute to good scenery, and the tile choice and unique-ish display of backwalls was something that contributed well.
I guess you could say King of Hearts is a bit of a puzzle game (though it wasn't really too puzzling, mind you, if at all). I don't think it has a set genre really, that's not a great thing, but there were some puzzles in the game (if a little overused and repetetive ones that we've seen before) such as dragging a bat to open a one way door and making a spirit hit a switch. :/
The design was pretty spot on, the map looked pretty, let's just say that. The design didn't look messy at all (nothing looked out of place) and I'll be honest, I think it looks cool (yeah, what a sentence!). He did well with the design, that's all I can say.
Was it creative? Barely. It was cool, but I'd seen most of it before (though I do give kudos for a creative, and pretty nice storyline, quite long too). Other then that it wasn't the most creative game.
If this game wasn't made for EGD I don't think it would've been featured, sorry. It's not bad, but not that great.
