Sasquatch is a game created by whtever

Hey all, review number 32 today and it'll be on Whtever's newest game, Sasquatch. First off, this game had a massive hype surrounding it, people saying it could be one of the best Platformers ever made and could make it as far as the EGL. I was also very hyped for the game and when I played it I was expecting to be amazed at Whtever's work.

It did not live up to the hype.

I always read story lines before I play games and I have to say, I REALLY loved the story line to Sasquatch, it got me even more excited to play it, and after all that, I see that the game only had 3 levels (only 2 of real gameplay), I was expecting more but at that point I didn't have a problem with it, that was later. The first two levels were the only with real gameplay, and they were both destroy the enemy which was the Rocky, both times, that was all. I was a little disappointed at the game, because adding onto that, the levels were extremely short and not very fun. The game had a unique feel and a unique atmosphere but the gameplay didn't deliver, of course there were some in game mechanisms to move the Sasquatch (Rocky) but it wasn't really groundbreaking like I thought it would be.

I did however, really dig the scenery, it added to the unique atmosphere to the game which I mentioned, the trees, grass, small rises in the ground made it seem a lot like Slender (a game which I really like), the Sasquatch mysteriously moving with the gears was cool, not that amazing but sure it was pretty neat, another thing which made the game a little more spooky was the music (on Level 1, the level 2 music... ugh). Anyway back on topic, the scenery was really great =)

The game was slightly laggy, it may have just been my laptop but on a few occasions it was a little framey, it didn't take too much away of the game though.

The game would be difficult for the average gamer, having to fight hand to hand with the Rocky (Sasquatch) for 75% of overall fighting. However a smart player can cheat and only have to fight hand to hand for 25% of the time (like I did). It would be better if it were impossible to cheat and bypass a few things so the fighting would be more challenging, exciting and somewhat forced.

Whtever was creative and had some cool ideas for the game, I'll give him that, but I do think that he could've done it a whole lot better if he remade it, not sure he'd want to do that though. Apparently it'll get repetitive with more levels but Whtever is a creative maker, I'm sure he could make it work.

Sasqautch overall is an average game, it isn't bad but not great either, nothing was truly groundbreaking or revolutionary, I liked the scenery, the storyline, the atmosphere, but the actual gameplay failed to deliver for me, maybe I set my standards for this game too high but it didn't live up to the hype for me. I think he could've made it better, made it longer with more gameplay but that's up to Whtever.

2.5/5
