Hey all,

I'm back for another review, haven't done one for a while. This one is an EGD review, EGD is an annual game making event where members sign up and release the greatest games they can possibly make on the same date, this year it was July 7th. We have no where near as many contestants as last year and to be honest not as many quality games. Just an unlucky year for it I guess, lots of people dropped out and not many legendary makers signed up to begin with. To emphasise on the "haven't reviewed for a while" statement, I've only done 3 reviews since last EGD. Oops? Anyway, here for my 34th review, Purity by Charismatic.

REVIEW

Let's start of with the gameplay. This game is a real lag wh0re. Lag lag lag lag lag. But that's not a problem, because of a certain trick up my sleeve for Shooter games the lag was not a problem. Yay for me. Anyway, obviously this is an action game, so there was a lot of action scenes which were usually pretty fun. There were a couple of bugs here and there too, such as the fact you could occasionally shoot THROUGH the walls and go full stealth mode (which is a rather long process in a game with this many enemies, so I doubt that's much of a problem either). The game was fun and very smooth running thanks to my little trick.

The map design was pretty good, it's not a bunch of complex corridoors, no, but it was wide open, room to move map. This game kind of reminds me of Bloodymare 2 by Lah. A similarly styled action robot game.

Because this is clearly an action game, I'll continue with this. The action was pretty good, not great though, of course it was fun but I felt Charis could've tried to involve the player a little bit more, for example, the enemies used most in this game were Mortars and Disruptors: stationary enemies which have a limit on their range. Get into that "safe zone" where you can shoot them but they can't sense you and the action scenes become very easy. I would suggest more rooms with magnets, repellers or pushers to force you into fighting hand to hand rather then sniping ducks from a distance. It wasn't that bad though, there was some better action scenes, for example an invisible maze typ e room you have to find your way through while mortars are firing at you, that was one of the fun action scenes in the game, which could've been super easy had someone been willing to use their bombs or mines.

There aren't really any puzzles or traps in this game as it's not really a focus (I was a couple of crystals off winning the game so I have had the luxury to say this confidently, there are barely any, if at all any puzzles, nor traps). That's okay though, there were some fun scenes involving teleporters although not really traps, were breaks from the action.

There's not much to say about this game seeing as it's purely action so I might leave it as it is.

Gameplay - 8/10 (would be lower because of lag if not for the trick I have)

Action - 7/10 (usually good but also was mostly the same for the whole game, we need more variety of action scenes)

Total: 7.5/10

Feature Worthy

The game could use some improvements, but yes, I find this game feature worthy. We need more pure action shooters on the featured games page and since it's EGD, it'll get featured for sure, usually only the real unworthy ones aren't featured in a contest like EGD.

'till next time, seeya.
