-Toxic Colony- is a game created by pandak

Hey guys. This is my first review! And I'm going to be doing it on Toxic colony by Pandak. Enjoy!

Introduction

Pandak's a well known member by all. Mostly for his Features, popularity, killing games (Which I don't approve of) and many more. I've never really played a game by Pandak before, so I didn't know what to expect. I'd heard that Pandak was a great game maker, but you can't always believe with what you hear. Pandak's popularity does give him a boost in many things, and is one of the most famous members in Sploder. All I was hoping for was a action packed game, filled with many twists and suprises. Did I get that? Well read on to find out.

Thumbnail

From looking at Toxic Colony, I could easily see that this game is a shooter. Shooter is most probably my favourite creator, as for it's perfect for making action, exciting, memorable games, which was what I was hoping to see in Toxic colony. It looked a little easy at the start, but began to show its true colours. The thumbnail made me think "As much as it looks easy, it could be harder than expected" from the thumbnail, it looked as if Toxic colony had been taken time and care into, but was that really the case? As much as Toxic colony looked the *it* game, not all games can be perfect. But it's not all about looks, it's more about the game. So let us move onto the story.

Story

The storyline wasn't all the best I've seen. I took a quick read of the story, and thought "Not all that creative or anything, could of been better, I guess". I do admit, I was hoping for a bit more than I had read. The storyline was about some boy/guy whos boss asked him to work overnight. You suddenly realise that some dirty toxic is coming from the basement of the building, and try to fix things. You try to plug it up, but accidently make things worse, and the whole thing's a hazard. Demons have been unlocked from the graves, meaning you better find a exit escape, and quick! Otherwise you will face the ultimate price, death. To me, this is the normal storyline. Not all that good, but not all that bad. It kind of made my ideas of the game being fantastic fall away down the drain. But not all hope was lost, as for once again, it's the game that's important, not the storyline. Which means I can't judge a game just by reading the storyline. As for storyline doesn't mean everything.

Review

At the start of the game, I didn't really move, I stayed put. That way, I could shoot the close enemies, and destroy them. I do this in most games, half the time it doesn't work. Luckily, this trick worked Toxic Colony. I did get stuck on certain bits, which kind of frustrated me. Which I talk about later on in my review. After a while, things became harder, a lot harder. While I was carrying on my journey, minding my own business, I got attacked by a army of huge green blobs, which rather annoyed me after I'd been doing pretty well. The swarm began to get larger, and larger, so large that I couldnt take it, and failed, miserably. But I did try again, as for they say, "Anything is possible" but I don't really believe that, as for not everything can be possible. (Like changing bodies with another human) But lets not go in to that, as for this review isn't about what is and isn't true. Anyhow, as for I carried on, I eventually gained the key, and passed the door. I died about 10 secounds later, and therefore I kept getting stuck on the same bit, meaning I died. Which was pretty annoying, seeing as I probably spent 20 minutes of my time Playing Toxic colony, as for it's quite addictive. As much as I was disappointed with myself for giving up, it also shows that Toxic colony is a good, challenging game. Which makes it a bit more special, to me.

Scenery

The Scenery wasn't all that good, and not the best I've ever seen. It was pretty much, just above average. The Scenery didn't exactly make me go "Wow! Amazing! I wish I could make a game as good as this!" But it didn't make me go "Ugh, this Scenery splodes. Even a three year old could do better than this!" Either. You can easily see that Pandak put plenty of effort into Toxic colony, and the overall game itself, but not all that much. Toxic colony was pretty colorful, and well designed, but not all was perfect. Maybe where certain items and enemies could of been better and different places, but not all that different, as for most things were well placed, just the one or two minor errors. There was also certain bits of lag in certain areas, which did let Toxic colony down. Luckily, most lag is un-noticable. Really, the Scenery wasn't all the best I've ever seen, but wasn't the worst that I've seen either. I can't really say if the Scenery was good or bad, because it was mostly in the middle. Which mostly makes this paragraph pointless.

Puzzles and traps.

I never really found any traps, or puzzles. Where the two big circles were placed, and when you went near it, and it set a electric shock on you was mostly a trap, but I'm not so sure about that one. I couldn't actually find any puzzles. Maybe when you have to get certain keys to unlock certain things is a bit of a puzzle, but hardly. (Seeing as most people know how to open doors with keys). So, nothing much I can say about puzzles and traps. Which is a disappointment, seeing as I find puzzles and traps the most important part of a game, as for it makes the game exciting, and not plain and boring.

Placements

Enemies were decently placed, in mostly the right spots. They weren't over used, or over powered, they were used fairly, and a decent decoration to Toxic colony. But that doesn't always mean that placements were perfect, because it doesn't. At the start of the game, Enemy placement is an excellent example. Even though things slowed down in the middle, they eventually picked back up. Maybe not all enemies would of been my type of choice, but I guess we all have different tastes and opinions.

Health placement was also outstanding. Once again, they weren't over used, or over powered, they were used carefully and fairly. Most people are normaly just careless with health placement, placing things lah dee dah, and wherever they want. But luckily, Pandak's different. He's careful where he places things, and doesn't place things wherever he feels like they should go, he takes his time. This actually pleases me, as for in many shooters I've played, I've seen many people be careless. But, as much as most placement was perfect, maybe one or two things could of been added to certain places. I'm not exactly sure where or which, but all I can tell is maybe some certain changes could be made.

Pros: Extraordinary placement, decent game-play, fair thumbnail.

Cons: Some lag, no puzzles or traps.

Conclusion

Toxic colony was a sparkling shooter with certain surprises that fill you with excitement. But the big question is, is Toxic colony feature worthy? My answer, yes. Although Toxic colony contains certain lag, and hasn't got many puzzles/traps, it's a great game which has been taken lots of time and care into, and therefore deserves its feature.

Remember, feedback's always welcome!
