Shipshots is a game created by mat7772

Hai, I'm back for my 36th Review. Which is of a Game named Shipshots. By a Reviewer named Mat7772. And clearly, a Game maker too. Nobody really Reviews anymore, And nobody reads my Reviews. So I doubt you're reading this but if you are, hi. Anyway, you want a Review to read don't you. So I'll get on with it.

Pre-thoughts

I've heard of Mat7772 before, infact. I was one of the first to do so. A better fact, if it wasn't for me. You'd never have heard of him. It was me who helped him get to where he is now. But now, it's that time of day. Lordeldar's Question Time! Yayz! Have I played his Games? Yes, I have. And did I enjoy them? Yes, I did. And did I play at least one of them? Yes, I did. That's all from Question time, thank you and goodbye. What am I expecting from Shipshots then? Well, it's a Shooter. And Mat7772 is a brilliant Shooter maker (You really should try a few of his other ones, after you've read this Review. Of course) So I am expect an experience that you'd expect to see in a decent Shooter. However, there could be a twist as well. Anyway, thumbnail time. In precisely 6 Seconds

Thumbnail

Welcome back, you've probably been busy counting so I decided to reintroduce you to the Review. Did you waste longer then 6 Seconds of your life counting? Tell me here if you did. Anyway, by the looks of things I see a Maze Game coming. With plenty of variety to what you do throughout. Along with a nice, juicy, tasty, addictive, extra scoop. Sorry, I got carried away talking about my ice-cream there. Which, just melted. Anyway, yeah. By looking at the Thumbnail the variety of things you can see makes me think that there might be quite a challenge. And that it'll also be a fabulous Game with a gripping Storyline that'll leave me hooked. Like my ice-cream did, until it melted. Did I get it? Find out, after the Story Paragraph

Gameplay

The Gameplay, was just as I predicted. COMPLETE TOTAL EPICNESS! Like my Ice-cream would've been if it hadn't melted. The difficulty though, wasn't what I predicted. Why? Because I beat the Game after about 6 Attempts. Other then that though, the Gameplay to Shipshots was legendary. One minute, you were doing this. The other you were doing something else. So, it's pretty much guaranteed that there's something you'll like. Even if it is eating your ice-cream while playing it :( I miss my ice-cream lol. You also go back and forth a lot throughout the Game. Which, doesn't really bug me whatsoever. However, something I really love is the way that Mat7772 allows you to do your own things (Such as choose which way to go, choose how to solve the puzzles, other stuff) which, I'll talk about more in Creativity and Originality. Anyway, Lord's Question time is back! Does it have Action? "Yes, and lots!" Please tell us something about it? "Ok, the Games lacks lag. Meaning that battles are much quicker. The Battles are also frequent, which improves it as well." And yeah, I think I've told you all I need to know. Other then the fact the Action and Variety makes it addictive.

Scenery

The Game fails when it comes to Scenery, like when I eat a Double scooped ice-cream. Nah, it wasn't really anything Special. The Game didn't really have any fancy artwork, which I would recommend adding as it's fun to mess around with and attracts people to play your Games is positioned correctly. And continues to keep them that way throughout their experience. However, mat7772 clearly put a little effort into making it look simple though. Even if it looks a bit odd in 1 or 2 places. Which, is better then the remains of my ice-cream. You can see by looking at the Thumbnail that there is some simple stuff and odd looking moments throughout. Overall, the Map was nice and Simple. But looked weird, and needed a bit of art to liven things up. I hope you take that in Mat7772 about Art and I hope the Fluffy Bunny that just licked up all the Ice Cream does so to lol

Placement

I don't see anything wrong with the placement at all. It doesn't make the Game impossible. Doesn't make the Game that easy (Remember, I most likely beat the Game with sheer luck. The Consequence was the death of my Ice-cream before I could finish eating it) Enemies were placed well, which you'll see for yourself when you play the Masterpiece. And showed that even Mat7772's placement has been influenced by other Members. Block Placement? It was the icing on the cake (Now, if you excuse me. Om nom nom nom nom nom...) And if there was just one small Mistake with it. The Game would've become a pile of Fluffy Bunny droppings. Preferrably from the one that ate my Ice-cream off the floor. So yeah, it would've either made the Game too easy, impossible or look really weird. As with most Games. And usually they pull it off. So it wasn't a surprise to see that Mat7772 did as well. There weren't really any Power-ups or that much health either. But there were allies. Possibly too many. Overall, placement was - like always - nothing special, but still good

Puzzles & Traps

I don't really have much to say about Puzzles, but anyway. There were a few. Well, there was one Puzzle. And it wasn't really much of a Puzzle. There were 2 ways to solve it. An easy way, which took away the word Puzzle or the Hard way. The only reason why I'm calling it a Puzzle. And what about traps. Nope, nothing. So, I'll say this again. While they aren't Vital in Games Puzzles and Traps are a nice addition that can add to the Challenge of the Game. Kthxbai! Sorry about this being short, I had nothing to say at all.

Creativity And Originality

So, earlier on I mentioned two things. Ice-cream and the fact that Shipshots allows you to be a little creative with what you do. But just which one am I going to talk about? The Game allowing you to be creative, of course. By the looks of things, Mat7772 never intended to make things this way. But, he did with Shipshots. But, other then allowing you to be a little creative in areas what else did Mat7772 do in Shipshots to make it creative. Firstly, he added a variety to the Gameplay which consisted of many different ideas he clearly had in mind. But anyway, was the Game original? From what I've seen, this is very similar to pretty much every featured shooter in terms of concept. Which, was a bit of a disappointment to me. I mean, there were keys. You went back and forth. There were lots of enemies, a challenge. And other stuff that you just see too often. Sorry mat, but while it was creative, it just wasn't original enough for me. Anyway, ratings next.

Pros

Well, firstly there was the creativity. There was definately some creativity to it, even if it wasn't original. And there was the enjoyable Gameplay too. The Game mostly consisted of positive notes for me actually. There were just a few small cons to it. Which I'll explain shortly

Cons

I'm gonna kick this off saying. This Game killed my Ice-cream XD! Seriously though, the Game did have a few cons. There was the lack of puzzles and traps to start off with. The decoration was fairly bland to Shipshots. And finally, the game was slightly ruined by the unoriginality too. But does that make it a bad Game? We'll see in the ratings

Ratings

Action: 8/10

Addictiveness: 8/10

Awesomeness (Gameplay): 8/10

Difficulty: 6.5/10

Scenery: 7/10

Placement: 7.5/10

Creativity & Originality: 6/10

Puzzles & Traps: 2/10

Length: 7/10

Overall: 7/10

As good as certain elements to Shipshots were, there were others that knocked the rating down to a 7. I still feel that the Game is feature worthy, because of the positive elements (Action, overall gameplay, creativity, that stuff) but only JUST worthy. To make things more worthy mat7772 could've improved certain elements. Like the puzzles, and maybe have made things a little bit more original. I know that he can do better then this. But this definately is far from his worst. Improve a few small things mat, and your shooters will definately become something that will inspire many, that will improve the image of the Shooter creator

Btw guys, I apologise about all the ice-cream stuff if you disapprove. I just typed in something about Ice-cream, and it kind of stuck with me while I wrote the Review :)
