Rebound ZeroGrav is a game created by gooey

Hi everyone, today I am reviewing Rebound ZeroGrav by gooey. Back when gooey made the original Rebound I wanted to review it, but after ready Matty's review of it, I decided not to. Since Matty made a really perfect review of it. I loved the game just as much as Matty did. I thought it was a perfectly good game. Rebound made me call back to when the Physics Puzzle Maker started out, with its design and all. I think the game deserved its high spot in EGD9. I know I haven't talked about Rebound ZeroGrav yet, but I had to clarify that I loved the original game before I get to reviewing it. Okay, I guess I should get on to ZeroGrav now.

After I saw gooey's game Jauntless on the featured page, I decided to look on his profile . On his page the top game was Rebound ZeroGrav and when I seen it on the page I thought it was going to be a sequel and it was going to use some kind of gravity physics to it. Recalling the original game, my expectations were very high. Though when I went and played it, it wasn't exactly what I had expected.

This game is a perfect example to why the concept and genre is important to a game. This game is basically Rebound with zero gravity, just as the title says. When Gooey made this, he threw Rebound's concept, genre, and basic controls out the window and made this.

With the controls, you are moving around with the w key while the ball aims at the mouse. The problem is that it gets a bit annoying as I move around since I am flying and bouncing all over the place. It is really awkward to control the balls too. Pipes and narrow paths are a pain to go through. gooey made Rebound for platforming. In a platforming environment, flying around all the time just does not work. This brings me to my next point.

The genre does not fit in very well. I know this is Rebound with zero gravity but, at least make the genre fit into the game. There isn't that much difficulty to the game, and that is because most of the time you are swooping by without worrying about the obstacles made from the original game for you. The climbing wall technique in some levels don't work so, you just fly up. Which is pretty much missing one of the points from the first game. At the level where the blue ball was introduced, the genre is really critical to the game. In Rebound around the end of that level you have to move out the red ball and be careful with the blue ball and try to hop through each platform which may sink to your doom. But in this game, you simply move out the red ball and continue with the blue ball, ignore all the platforms and just fly out of there. Yeah, there isn't much challenge there. Now on to the most important part of a game, the concept.

As I stated, the concept is the most important thing to a game. It is especially important to a game like rebound! The concept is what brings the charm to Rebound. It makes me want to play the game. But for this game, it is missing. In this game I don't find knocking things down exciting to do. In fact most of the stuff just floats away. What you do in Rebound is you knock stuff down, perform actions, hop through obstacles and many other things to get to the end. While in Rebound ZeroGrav, we just float away and just get to our destination without anything else to do. On the backyard level, because of the zero gravity, one of the keys is just revealed to you.

As you may see by now, everything is important to a game pretty much. But if you change one or more elements to the game, it may ruin a game really fast. Though floating around in a game seems like a good idea, the game isn't made for you to do that.

It is time for my final thoughts I guess:

Pros Of The Game:

Great scenery

The feel of the game

Cons Of The Game:

Overall game-play

controls

no challenge to it

concept doesn't fit

genre doesn't fit

Scoring Of Game:

Game-Play - 2/10

Art and Scenery - 9/10

Playability - 2/10

Difficulty - 1/10

Challenges and Puzzles - 2/10

Score Overall- 3/10

I loved the original game but, taking a game and changing one thing from it can make differences. Everything from this game is in fact done better in the original game than this one. So mostly everything I think about this game is not what I think of with the original. Well, I guess it is time for me to sign out. So, this is master106 and see you next time!
