Psychic warefare is a game created by religious2

Wouldn't it be awesome to have psychic powers? Imagine decimating your enemies to bits only using your mind or being able to lift large buildings and chuck them wherever you please. So when I heard that a game called Psychic Warefare was entering EGD I was instantly hyped. I got even more excited when I heard it was going to be a physics puzzle maker game and that is was made by Religious2 who is a pretty well-known game maker. Me being so excited I jumped right into the game expecting a classic. Was I right? Well let's find out as we take a look at Psychic Warefare by Religious2!

The Review

The first thing that stuck out to me was the game's concept and story. You are able to control the physical body and the mental mind of our main character to solve puzzles the government has forced you to participate in. Isn't that unique? The camera even moves depends on which part your controlling. Already I'm impressed by such a creative concept that I haven't seen in the Physics Puzzle Maker before and it really stands out from the crowd in terms of story and concept.

In terms of presentation however there isn't anything too special about Psychic Warfare. For starters Religious2 spelled warfare wrong but there are some other issues as well. The graphics are bland with our hero being a pink ball with eyes and the scenery consisting of gray walls and boring props. The levels while fun to play through look almost entirely the same. The only good thing to look at is the intro but only because it's rather nice and flashy. I'm pretty sure Religious2 made the graphics himself which is nice but what we get here is a game that quite frankly is boring to look at. What about the music tracks in this game? you may be asking. There is no music throughout the entirety of Psychic Warefare and creates no mood in the process. Overall presentation lacks some effort and I know Religious2 could have done better.

Ok now with that rant over let's talk about the placement. I thought Religious2 did a clever job with the items in this game. He hid these items in unique places which require you to think in order to find them. Finding these items is where the puzzle aspect of the game comes into play. When you find each item you need to now figure out what that item does and how it helps progress in the level. The level and boss placement help the game out by making the game puzzling and fun to play. There aren't too many times when the placement gets in the way and like I said before it only serves to make the game more enjoyable.

One of the other things that stuck out to me was Psychic Warefare's difficulty. Man is this game hard! In the first level it's not so bad but when it gets into later levels the difficulty ramps up pretty high. The reason for this game being so frustrating is that so many projectiles and enemies onslaught you while you have to maneuver around the stage doing multiple tasks. It also doesn't help that you have such a tiny area to avoid stuff and don't even get me started on the boss battles! If your not skilled at each level this game quickly becomes frustrating. Look I like games to be challenging but Psychic Warefare is punishing and for casual players like me it's a gaming nightmare.

Finally we come to the gameplay or as I like to call it the make it or break it point. Is Psychic Warefare rewarding and fun to play through? I thought the game was simply decent. The problem solving is what really stands out here. Psychic Warefare makes you think and keeps you standing on your toes waiting for another adrenaline filled moment. However because of the difficulty later on and confusion you might go through its not for everyone. The camera may sometimes be an issue and your hero tends to move when you’re not controlling it. Psychic Warefare does stand out as a unique physics game and maybe with a little bit more work put in it could be a fantastic game.

The Ratings

Story/Concept: 8 out of 10

Presentation: 3 out of 10

Placement: 7 out of 10

Difficulty: 3 out of 10

Gameplay: 6 out of 10

Overall: 5.4 out of 10

Overall Psychic Warefare is most enjoyed when problem solving through it puzzling elements. However the difficulty and presentation are sometimes unbearable. The concept is really unique and the placement is pretty clever. I would give it a go if your looking for a challenge. Otherwise I can't recommend this to too many people. This has been Matthade2 and I hope you enjoyed the review!
