Flood Escape tides in with an interesting, but overused concept, and like a roaring tidal wave, it was just a matter of time before everything gets washed away. It introduces us with an escaping platformer, featuring an athletic young humanoid in a world of non-existent.

In spite of being the only thing to do, the platforming ultimately feels futile. It's great to finally pass a stage you've been fiddling with for a long period of time, but it's needless when nothing really wants you to keep soldiering on. It would have been more meaningful had there been a great "wow" factor to keep you from vacating the game at a particular point. Unfortunately, this has not been handled extremely well, and as a result, keeps you from really enjoying the game at its more refined segments.

For the most part, Flood Escape does provide its fair share of difficulty, gradually increasing in difficulty as you progress through. The first few levels allow you to get used to the controls, without providing too many obstacles to tackle through, and when you do, they're not too difficult to pass through. Buildings may abruptly collapse, while you least expect them too, and that really shines in Flood Escape. However, those hefty moments are overshadowed by the mundane objectives and unpleasant emptiness.

These unappealing moments could be forgiven if the rest of Flood Escape proffered any meaningful material, but it's something that's far too empty and plain to continue playing. You venture through different stages, and only occasionally do you experience something different. However, those special moments only come during later stages of Flood Escape.

These moments don't make Flood Escape a "bad" game, rather prevents it from climbing above adequate. Every promising moment of Flood Escape is heavily dragged down by its desolate design and inconsequential progress. Flood Escape is a forgettable game, with very few hopeful moments.

The Good

Difficulty doesn't start off too hard; enough for us to get used to the controls.

Some enjoyable sequences.

The Bad

- Pointless level progressions.

- Plain and empty.

- No sense of character progression.
