Alienation is a game created by demonxz95

Hello guys, Im paq (no really?) and Im baq with another review today, and this will be my first review for my new reviewing center, ARC! I will be reviewing Alienation by Demonxz95. My reviewing center reviews only Algorithm games such as this one, so if you want a chance for me to review your game then comment below! Anyways onto the review :)!

First Thoughts

Demonxz95 is a well known game maker known for games such as Protonic Reaction or One Hit Kevin, so I was expecting something good out of this game! Alienation was featured, and that alone tells me that this game is good otherwise it wouldnt be featured. Moving on to the game itself, the thumbnail of Alienation caught my eye not necessarily due to the scenery, but due to the fact that the game mission was to download the secret plans. Most of the time in 3-D games you would normally either rescue the scientist or go on a hit and run mission, so this was something new already. However when the game mode is to download the secret plans, people have to use 2 characters which can get quite annoying at times (I dont use a second character :p.) When I first started the game, Demon quickly gets into the storyline which in summary was to find a way to stop the aliens from taking human energy, before its too late. The storyline was interesting but nothing special, but made the game what it was. Anyways, lets get baq (PUNNY!) to the review!

Gameplay

One thing I noticed right at the start of the game, was that there was a bit of unnecessary backtracking. You walk into the second level and come right back to level 1, however because you are required to have a partner, it could possibly take about 15 seconds to get back to the action. Its not a big deal, however the game would flow better if the next level entry was at the end of the first level, rather than in the middle. Another thing I noticed was that all of the locked doors were rather difficult to solve, and took time to complete, affecting the flow of the game. Locked doors should really only be in place to prevent players from skipping ahead of the action, but shouldnt be too hard to solve (maze doors). These hard locked door combinations made the game a bit choppy, and could be improved by replacing them with simple maze doors. In the action scenes, there was good balance between enemies and health where often I would lose health after a fight, but get it back due to the good health placement. Enemies were placed well, and there werent too many enemies or too little.

The puzzles and traps in this game were good. I didnt see too many puzzles because the main purpose of the game was action, but there were a few. One puzzle I enjoyed was maneuvering yourself on the conveyers to not hit acid (or human energy, I dont really know). There were also many good traps in this game, my favorite trap being one where backtracking will kill you. A map in the same level gets you aware of the trap, so one would have to think of ways to avoid the trap but get past the level. I personally wish there were a few more puzzles to have to solve while playing the game. The scenery in the game was good as far as an algorithm game goes, it wasnt exceptional but it was still nice. I liked how at the beginning and endings of the game the scenery involved human energy, to attribute to the storyline.

Pros:

-Placement

-Traps

-Scenery

-Action

-Storyline

Cons:

-Flow of the game

-More Puzzles

Conclusion

Alienation was a nice Algorithm game, and well deserves its feature. Everything in the game was good although it could use a few more puzzles, however the flow of the game could be improved greatly. This was Paq Reviewing for ARC, out!
