Yo wazzup, it's your man Rockyroad797 here with a brand new review. I haven't written one for a year, my last review being the one for editor app of "To the moon and back" by Wordigirl. But that was that. With the EGD Going on I must be mad to review an old game. Except... if it's a masterpiece. So I ain't mad. Let's look at how good this game is, just look who made it and then argue about the quality. Forget that, let's just move on with this review.

Pre Thoughts

Yeah like I said, before writing this review, I actually had no plan of writing one. I wanted to play a couple of featured games. I lost badly in most of them but then I hit it to Witch Chaos. I was terrible in it's first level the previous time I played it. But why not give it a shot? There's a difference between the skills of a 10 year old me and a 13 year old me. So yeah, even the thumbnail looked more artistic than any painting by Leonardo da Vinci (Joking). Never mind, let's discuss the main points of this game's review.

Gameplay

I agree the Gameplay column is the most important part for most game reviews, but it's especially crucial for a game like this, and you'll know why as you delve further into this. Firstly a lot of brilliant tactics were used. Some different mechanics that I've never played before, but the simplicity but brilliance of it made me wonder why I hadn't seen those. For starters, the best part was, you chase the enemies using help from the enemies. The birds and other flying villains were often our biggest key to getting to higher areas and advancing. So rather than using readymade mushrooms or tools we risk our health and test our perfection on the jumps. Another one, The normal flower type of switch was used, but often it didn't always open up barriers like you normally see. But instead it reduced bricks to not an equal level, but at stair like position just near a jumpy enemy (I forgot what you call those orange things). This was a terrific placement. It's almost impossible to advance past that stage unwounded as that type of placement guarantees a hit from that annoying orange pest.

The apple sequence was brilliant as well. I never got it initially but it required a proper pace that you get to the flower before the mushrooms throw you up and just open up the vine to reach it properly. I mean, many of the sequences often rely on quick movements and motor skills. For example, a mushroom was supposed to haul me up but it was just above the ground so I was thrown down. I almost rage quit it before I was able to just squeeze quickly and jump up properly. I still have no clue how that worked but it seemed clever. Lastly, I also observed and admired something. Everytime I lose health to an extent, I always got it refilled at the right moment. The apple placements were at perfect areas, well at least to me. So the game was unique. It wasn't challenging in a way that it kept killing us (Which is irritating as heck), and instead challenged us with clever and brilliant sequences that took time to get past. I overall loved this aspect. It proves arcades are simplistic games but has enough to challenge you to the limits if the creator of the game utilized it well.

Scenery

Another vital part of this bad boy. The Arcade Creator often has less to offer in the scenery aspect but the quality of those are often the best. Lord Lidl or maybe Mat paired the bushes with the background and trees (I guess?) so perfectly, it enhanced the forest theme to a terrific extent. I mean those things aren't even legitimate trees. They look like some esophagus ripped off an alimentary canal but these guys actually utilized it well as a tree and actually made it look like it.

I don't have too much to say but it could have definitely been better. Alternating the textures of bushes and vines would've definitely given it more touch. The second option in bushes and vines looked more swampy and could've been utilized well in the first few levels. I ain't gonna mark it as a huge mistake cause it isn't, but seeing the same type of scenery in every level does have some scope for change. Would've been nice to do that along with erasing the blandness found in the starting level, to turn the scenery from good to perfect. Overall Scenery was great. Can't blame them, that heck of a gameplay was enough to form a great opinion.

Storyline

This game had a comparatively amazing storyline. Unlike most games we didn't witness the tale or story as a beginning level but it just flowed with the gameplay. Every level there's people talking, including the player, and every stage the story changes. A really fun thing to implement. So basically, there weren't only objectives but there was bits of storyline and dialogues just running along with the fluent gameplay, and gave a sense of continuity and reminded us what the player is actually trying to do inside this masterpiece. It could be somewhat annoying to click through every dialogue through a level though, but Overall it is a splendid part of the game. I'll buy Lidl cookies when I get the chance as a tribute

Pros

* Flowing Storyline

* Innovative Mechanics

* Challenging without Raging

Cons

* Repetitive Scenery

Ratings

* Gameplay - 9.5/10

* Scenery - 8/10

* Storyline - 9/10

* Overall - 9.166/10

Final Verdict

Incredible game. It was solid, and it was an Arcade version of Mario's Revenge, pushing the creator to it's limits using cool innovative concepts. The repetitive scenery was the only down which itself isn't a vital part of the game. I was only able to get past 3 levels but it was thoroughly enjoyable anyway. I wouldn't be picking a night before a test to write my first review in a year, but the game proved it was worth it. Now pls, 3 boxes of Lidl Brownies.
