Intro:

Hello, I'm back with my second review on sploder (including accepted application.) Today I will be reviewing the rather challenging puzzle game Realm Of Ice by vpopsiclev.

Pre-Thoughts:

Vpopsiclev? Doesn't quite ring a bell, in my opinion vpopsiclev is a UM (Unknown Member.) He deserves a lot more attention after playing Realm of Ice. I must say, the thumbnail instantly grabbed my attention, it was just like any puzzle game's should be, a snapshot of "blockhead" situated in a puzzle. Realm of Ice's thumbnail did exactly that. How did I find this game. Well, I was scrolling down all the recent reviews and then I found a review on Realm of Ice. As I said before, the thumbnail instantly grabbed my attention which is what made me play this game. So, we shall begin an insight on my thoughts.

Gameplay:

As soon as I entered the game I was surrounded by many switches, traps, burst blocks. Where to start? That was the question. Well, sorry that's not my job to tell you, my job is to review. Now, I must say, puzzles were rather well placed. Realm of Ice is mainly based on grenade puzzles which kind of spoiled the game slightly, as I would have liked to see a bit more variation of puzzles. There was also a lot of power glove puzzles throughout. There was several other puzzles but grenades and power gloves dominated. The game difficulty was given a 9 just to point out. I could tell Realm of Ice was made to make you think. But seriously it took me at least two minutes (In real time) to figure out a puzzle. So I must stress, ~think~. The game was still very enjoyable. Very good start.

Puzzles/traps:

So many! This was obviously puzzle based looking around, it's not hard to tell. Switches and enemies were everywhere however well placed. Puzzles wasn't the only major thing that stood out for me. Traps, traps stood out the most. The placement was amazing! This has to be the best game for trap placement and I ain't even joking :P. About the traps, the temptation to activate them gets a 10/10. It's just so tempting to trigger them. Why? You'll find out when you play. The puzzles like I said were placed well but based around grenades and power gloves. Still, there's nothing wrong with that it's just that I would have liked a bit more balance on variation. Another thing that I loved about the puzzles is that they required agility, yes, agility. This is the hardest feature of the game, you have to think on your feet. Indeed very good puzzles and traps

Scenery:

There actually wasn't any scenery however this was rather effective. The blue background gave the impression that this was based on ice, but in my opinion vpopsiclev should have placed the game higher so the background didn't show. Besides that rather effective.

Uniqueness: Rather unique, the puzzles were mostly ones I haven't seen before but some I had seen before, the scenery effect was very unique as well. Very unique game.

Ratings:

Gameplay: 5/5- I honestly really enjoyed it.

Scenery: 4/5- Empty but effective.

Puzzles and traps: 5/5- Fantastic 'nuff said.

Difficulty: 3.5/5- Started off difficult but got easier as you keep playing.

Uniqueness- 3.5/5- Unique but some old puzzles were used.

Total: 21/25

Feature worthy:

I'm going to say yes for Realm of Ice, the scenery was very effective, the game was rather unique, the puzzles and traps were placed with precision, it was rather difficult, so yes, I think this is feature worthy.

Conclusion:

Realm of Ice, a potential feature is a puzzling while difficult and forces you to think on your feet.

Stuck?:

That "P" button is vital ;)
