Review

I will now be creating better and longer reviews. I realize that some of mine got really short and I apologize for that. It’s been quite awhile since I last reviewed a game anyway. I will be reviewing Diamonds Arent Forever by empoleon. First of all, lets just make it clear that the “Arent” with out the “’” is a known error but it cannot be prevented because empoleon’s game creator won’t let him. It’s not a big deal once you start playing the actual game though.

This game can get frustrating and fast! I like to imagine the diamonds being me because I’m not going to last more than a couple minutes. The scenery at the beginning should be edited. The “Danger” sign and the arrows sometimes get covered up by the other background tiles behind them. I do find it kind of ironic how there is a “Danger” sign telling you that there is danger ahead yet, there is an arrow pointing to go towards the danger. Follow your gut on this one! Once you reach the top of the stairs on the right, you will find a crusher puzzle. This puzzle isn’t too difficult to pass but afterwards, things really start to get crazy!

4 turrets lurk above you, goading you to fall into a waiting trap. I happen to like the backgrounds used in this trap. It resembles a mini underground mining operation with its rock piles. After avoiding the trap, you must climb up the ladders. But there is a catch. Once you are done climbing the ladders, you must jump off and onto a small platform. This platform is very easy to slide across. You may just find that you have just fallen down the entire ladder climb. This can get you frustrated! I soon find myself trying over 10 times to land on the carefully placed platforms but alas, each miserably failed. I did manage to finally hit all of the platforms.

This game uses the same amazing background all throughout the game. I really like it at times, but sometimes I feel that if empoleon had placed some different background tiles as well, it would add to the personality. When I thought of diamonds, I thought this game would have a shiny, golden background. I’m not sure how empoleon does it but somehow he thinks of the greatest game titles possible. (Ex. Diamonds Arent Forever, Interlude, Count Your Blessings, etc.) I look forward to hopefully seeing a sequel to this game.

Suggestions

I personally would go through and change the background tiles to a shinier type because you have “Diamonds” in the title. Also, I would change the double jump power up to a bouncer below the crusher. This would enhance difficulty even more!
