The Crystal of Gods is a game created by electronicus

I will be reviewing The Crystal of Gods by electronicus. It was requested in the BHR thread. I really don’t know anything about this user previously. But maybe that’s due to the fact that he just joined 6 days ago. I found that this game was really well made but it has some minor draw backs. The Crystal of Gods was made on January 1st so it is currently only a day old in my time zone.

The Crystal of Gods is a different type of platformer game. It is kind of strange and mysterious. I notice that the beginning portion of this game is based on a Super Mario type layout with some blocks hovering over the floor. The description says that there is an extra life to the left of the starting position and I took advantage of that. I then went right only to find a wizard saying that I should keep walking and be quiet. This really got me involved in the story line of this game. I really like the water pond in this game. Although you can bypass it completely by jumping over the large brick wall stopper. Now that I think of it, there are many unneeded stoppers and traps in this game that can easily be bypassed. I like how well the check points are placed in The Crystal of Gods. They are right after a puzzle or a cell of enemies. After a while of game play, I can to a spot where you have to get through a shark infested lake and then climb up a waiting ladder on the other side. If you make sure that you stay out of the sharks’ line of sight, you will get passed this trap easily. After the lake encounter, you enter the first tunnel system. This tunnel has crushers that didn’t exactly come out of the Build-A-Bear Workshop. They are precisely placed for optimal lethalness. If you manage to bypass the deadly crushers, you are well on your way to beating this game. You must then locate the blue key in the foliage. After doing so, you are free to climb up the Super Mario style blocks and try to get passed the ground spikes. This is where I perished after trying time after time to get passed the spot where I died. I must have tried nearly ten times to beat my score.

The Crystal of Gods uses the most scenery I have ever seen in a platformer game yet. Foliage is its strong point. It is used basically everywhere you look in this game. Scenery blocks are used quite often and make The Crystal of Gods a great game to play. There is even a part in this game where bats are put in water to resemble fish to make the shark infested waters seem more realistic.

The Crystal of Gods is a very incredible game. From its amazing scenery to its perfect enemy placement, The Crystal of Gods scores big on the epic meter. I wish the title of this game was either “The Crystals of Gods” or “The Crystal of God”. Either one would be a tad better in my opinion. But the name isn’t a big deal. In the end, I am glad that I reviewed this game.

Description Given:

“Enjoy and please comment, rate and all that stuff! :D Useful Tips-1) Don't forget that heart on the left in the begginning. 2) While in the water with sharks, swim at the bottom. It will help you avoid them (but not always!). Thx for playing and play my other games too!”

Suggestions:

1. Add alternative paths.

2. Fix the prementioned problems with traps.

My Final Burn:

I can’t really say too much bad stuff about this game. I admire electronicus’s use of scenery and I will hope to review another one of his games soon.

This has been a BHR.
