Have you ever gotten so far, then due to one mistake or even someone else's mistake, and the experience was ruined? This is how I felt with Motivation. Motivation is a game that brings many things to the table, most of them great, but one of them just makes me sad. We'll get to the sad part with all the crying later. Right now, let's focus on what this game did right.

This game has something that few ship games have, and even fewer games get it right, Rhythm. This game has its own tempo, whether he wants you to take it nice and slow, and then he drops in a health and gives you a section where you have to speed up, keeping you moving at either a careful or frantic pace. It's things like this that make a game more fun to play, and people recognize that there's something else added to the game. They just can't label that it's this. But one thing they can label is right below.

This game is a difficult. I'm not gonna sugar coat it. Getting past the beginning will take time and effort. I got past it on the first time [ Not to brag ;) ], but I barely go though. The game tricks you at the beginning. It looks easy, but it is all a guise to make you think you'll be fine, take some damage, be a little reckless, and make mistakes. After the easy part ends, the difficulty silently skyrockets. The best part is, the people playing it might not notice. You may think you are at a simple little section of the game, but it will be that section that was the reason you didn't have enough health to destroy a monster later on, or the health to survive the attack of tanks or a larger enemy. This game is hard, even if you don't notice it until it's too late.

I'll take a short time to comment on placement and map right now because I all know you take time to appreciate the map design, patterns, and placement. The power-up placement was splendid. I really had no complaints about it. They made they think that you were gonna die, and then a ray of hope appeared as a mega-health was sitting just a short length away. The enemy placement however, was not the best. While they were organized well, they were not in the best spots. Like if a turret was just a smidge to the left, it would be in position to hit the ship and not get in the way of another enemy. This wasn't in the game, but trust me, you'll notice. It's not enough to take away from the game itself, but there are some parts.

Now here we are, the part I found horrible wrong with the game. The game had no lag all the way through, until one little section...

SPOILER ALERT

A part with 3 turrets surrounded by some obstacles and an electropede behind it. The second I got to this part, I dropped a bomb, and then was out, but I thought: "I have enough health to takes these guys down if I throw some bots in." So I did, and the second the turrets started firing. HOLY LAG. My little ship guy just floated right into the electropede with no control due to the lag; his funeral was shortly after. With this one part removed, or fixed, the game would function like a dream, but alas, the game in it's current form, will not even get a four.

Overall: 3.5
