Introduction

The game I am reviewing is The Legend of the Seven Stars (RPG) by ultralord5. As the name suggests it is designed to be like a role-playing game. It was a bit of a lengthy play-through but I found it well worth the time I put into it.

Pre-thoughts

First let me explain why I chose this particular game. I was in a game reviewing mood and decided to use the admin page to help me find a good game. I wanted a shooter so I filtered out the other types. After wading through a sea of mediocre shooters I came across this diamond in the rough. The thumbnail looked appealing so I gave it a shot and it did not disappoint.

Game-Play

As mentioned before, this game was designed to be like an RPG. Of course it's not going to have the turn-based battles and the experience systems usually found in RPGs,

but it did decently mimic some classic RPG nuances. There was a mock town with a fake shop. There was a scene in the town set so it would appear that people were joining your party. Each region of the map had a name and the game is finished off with a dungeon (The name of which I can't seem to remember, but it was delightfully cliche.) where the majority of the action takes place.

Before you get to the dungeon the door to it must be unlocked. So the first half of the game is the usual 'hunt down the keys' rigmarole, however in this game the battles with the keys are called "star battles". According to the message outside the dungeon you need to get the three stars in order to enter the dungeon. Defeating the keys is actually easy so long as you still have allies with you. This actually takes away from the challenge quite a bit.

Once you are in the dungeon just navigate the corridors and find the four crystals. They are easy enough to get with the extra assistance of the four ally bots that join you in the dungeon, although these bots can be more of an annoyance than anything. In the narrow corridors they just serve to block your path. Another problem is the four mega healths that accompany the ally robots. If there were just one then that probably would've been enough for most players. Four mega healths essentially make you invincible at that point, making the rest of the game far too easy.

Post-thoughts

Despite the less than stellar item placement this game was pretty good. I loved the creativity, although I'm probably a bit biased, as I am a big fan of role-playing games. This game could be improved on in many ways, but it is at least a couple of steps ahead of most shooters on sploder.
