Duet is a game created by shibuvsvinayak

No reader, don't worry - I'm not singing. It's not raining. That is, in fact, the title of my brand new review on Duet by Shibuvsvinayak. Vinayak is a less known member, but is, however, slowly rising. His first feature - Park to the Mark - was pretty successful, but what about Duet? Will it surpass the standards of Park to the Mark? There's only one way to find out. Read on!

When I looked at the thumbnail, it didn't give me even a vague idea of what to expect. Duet is a game on mobile, too, and it's got exactly the same goal - to avoid the oncoming blocks. I've never played the mobile version before, so the name meant nothing to me and the thumbnail certainly didn't help due to it being an image of Vinayak's intro. However, because I'd seen Park to the Mark, I knew it must be a high quality game. That alone is the only reason I decided to play.

The gameplay is pretty repetitive. You have two circles that move in a circular path and every level has a set of oncoming blocks that you have to dodge. The first level starts off pretty easy to let the player get used to the controls, especially if they haven't played the mobile version before. The balls both move in exactly the same direction. Duet brings a lot of challenge - one wrong move and you're done. Unfortunately there aren't any "special" kinds of blocks or any twists, you literally just avoid blocks. It would've been neat if Vinayak had added a twist like semi-transparent blocks that you can pass through, or a blue block that only blue could go through.

Duet is a strategy game so it makes sense that there's a lot of challenge. I mean, what's a strategy game if it's easy? It isn't! You've got to rotate the balls slowly at some points so they don't collide with the white blocks but at other times it's about speed. As you advance through the levels, you feel more and more like you're going to smash your keyboard with rage.

Duet, in my honest opinion, was quite original and addictive but at the same time it was a bit.. boring? I mean, all you're doing is moving circles round in a circle shape. What's so fun about that? Like I said, there's absolutely no twists whatsoever which doesn't make the game any more interesting. Another thing that brought this game down is that there were no graphics or scenery (obviously excluding the introduction) so there wasn't anything that made it look appealing. There could have been some scenery. Maybe an outdoor level, a castle level, you get the idea.

I think I'm done analyzing the game - let's move on to the scoring.

Graphical content: _/_____

Gameplay: ___/_____

Challenge: ____/_____

Originality: ____/_____

Addictiveness: ___/_____

Overall: ___/_____

Honestly, I don't think this game deserves its feature. It was a really nice attempt and the concept was really nice, but it just didn't meet my standards. I still think Park to the Mark beats this, but it's not far off. I can't wait to see what else Vinayak has in store for us for his next game!

See you later!
