Intro

What’s cookin’ my Sploder friends, today I’m finally going to do a long overdue game review on Merry Christmas by roarroarhairysplode! Now, by the looks of his games, it would appear that this would be completely and utterly impossible game/puzzle platformer. He’s made some pretty sick puzzle games as well I might add. Enough jabbering, let’s begin!

First Thoughts

First thoughts? This game gives me cancer. Just the fact that you have to glitch your way throughout the entire early stages of the game, really is not how you create a good first impression (not that I know what a good first impression is). No ‘Christmas spirit’ there.

Now let’s take a break to see what our studio audience has to say about it,

Troyio: Yo yo diggity dawg, this game is downright froshiznit. Top shiznet.

Grant: I hate this game, just the thought of being physically endangered is not the way to go, remove all hazards or I will have to ban you.

Charis: Top lel

Thanks guys! Now back to the review.

Storyline

The storyline is no J.K. Rowling, no sir, this storyline is, as Charis puts it, “top lel”. The storyline is quite a mess (speaking of mess, I need new bed sheets). Not much to say there.

Other Categories Nobody Even Reads or Cares About

It’s probably passed your bedtime, and you should probably should sleep now, but just in case you want other details about this game, I’ve generously created a category for you topnotch readers out there. Enjoy, and make sure to read it. Please read it. Seriously, read it. I’m not joking around, read it. I spent countless hours making this so you better read and enjoy it.

Thumbnail? Bland, just trees with no real background. Nothing really makes you want to click it.

Placement? Apart from the beginning, the placement was spot on. Nothing was really out of place or sloppy, of course in some cases (boxes, bats, etc.), the placement could be a little annoying. I think a little more testing could’ve made it better.

Action? It was alright, but nothing made me go “WOW, DID YOU REALLY MAKE THAT?” It was just some neatly placed enemies and decently placed traps.

Distance Traveled? I stopped right around levels 5 and 6, since I was so bored, I wanted to stab myself a million times with a piece of lead. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good game, but the first part just left a horrible aftertaste in my mouth.

Did I Enjoy the Game? I know I’ve been ranting about how this game is garbage and how “top lel” it was, but it’s still better than many games I’ve played recently. I could also see the effort put into this game. Kudos to you hairysplode.

Feature Worthy?

The answer is quite simple. No, it is not feature worthy. Reasons being, it was just another typical game and I saw nothing that made me speechless. Sorry man, but it’s just not quite there yet.

Ratings

Ah yes, the ratings. The place where everyone goes to. I know you always search for this in reviews. You never read the actual thing itself, you just want to find out the ratings. Shame on you.

Storyline: 5/10; It had potential, but was rushed and lost the spark it could’ve had.

Action: 6/10; Decent, well placed enemies but nothing stood out.

Addictiveness; 2/10; Starting a game right is the way to go, and this game, in my opinion, had the worst beginning I’ve ever seen (not including troll/noob games). A good first impression is all you need for someone to enjoy your game.

Thumbnail: 1/5; Not important, but a good thumbnail always attracts more people, and this game had a really bland thumbnail.

Placement: 8/10; the only good part about this game (apart from the early levels, and some exceptions).

Overall: 22/45 (F); A game with potential, the creator just couldn’t pull off.
