Hmm...Interesting...
Shock Wave.Dignity is a game created by deathleaf
Right, new month, new review... This time around I'm going to do something a bit different. Instead of reviewing featured games and reviewed and advertised games from the forums (Okay, well he asked me to do it but still), I'm going to review a game by DeathLeaf. He has never had a reviewed game, nor a featured game, he's almost invisible. With Hkassrulz's change to the editor recruitment, I decided to take a shot at it...
Pre-thoughts/Thumbnail
I know DeathLeaf, but I haven't actually ever played one of his games. This game looks interesting; It is in 8Bit, you begin to fall the second you press 'Click to play' and the name sounds pretty cool.
Story
You are a soldier sent on a mission to find the crystal for the king and his wife, when you get it you will appear in a new land to find 7 more crystals, what stand in your way are traps enemies and paths to get your king all the crystals he needs, good luck!
Game-play
This game in the begining was quite simalar to others, with you falling onto a ramp, choosing crossroads, attempting to touch the spikes as little as possible, etcetra. The game also lags a lot, so in the high chance of you dieing, you will have to restart and face the lengthy wait to restart the game.
The scenery was new, in the sense I haven't seen that particular style before, but sadly stayed much the same beside the early changes the whole time. If DeathLeaf had changed it once in a while, it would have made the game much more interesting. Of course, with the scenery and the 8Bit together, DeathLeaf may even have been able to make a few traps.
The were zilch traps and puzzles, aside from the crossroads. This was a huge let-down, as the game was quite enjoyable and traps and puzzles may have extremely enhanced the fun and enjoyment.
In what I managed to complete of the game, saw absolutely NO power-ups whatsoever. This may have decreased enjoyment as many players may have given up on this game, feeling it wasn't worth the lag and wait, even though I thoughroughly thought that this game had potential to be feature-worthy with some adjustments, power-ups are the difference between a great game and another wanna-be game.
How to make this game better
I have probably already mentioned how, but this should highlight what to do:
Change the scenery more often
Add MUCH more power-ups
Add traps
Add Puzzles
Pros
Good story
Good enemy placement
Cons
No power-ups
No puzzles/traps
Too much lag
Same scenery
Overall rating:
6/10 -Around Average
This game definitely could be feature-worthy if just a few adjustments are made. DeathLeaf did a good job on this, though it seems he was in a bit of a hurry to finish it.
