The Dungeon is a game created by neutralization

The Dungeon - Neutralization (This is a pretty short review, I realise, but this is my first review in months, and the game wasn't huge. :P)

Pre-thoughts: Looks like, to be honest, a fairly average PPG at the moment; platforming, spikes and stuff being the only hazard, and all those shenanigans. Most of the PPG games at the moment seem to be similar to this style, and this looks no different. I've seen few games like this which are actually pretty good, so lets hope that this will be better than the current standard for these games...And it appears to be fairly short, with only two levels, it shouldn't be very hard to get through. >.>

THE REVIEW:

Well, not to start off on a bad note, but this is something that seems to be present in almost all games like this, the controls. They're perfectly fine, but something which would make these games endlessly easier to play would be to take a bit of the edge off of the movement speed. This makes doing anything if you have any lag whatsoever near enough impossible, so that would be something to fix. Other than that, from the start, no major issues with the game. The first level features several traps where upon breaking a certain block, the sand in which you are standing on falls, which I thought was pretty cool, and I haven't seen it anywhere yet, so that was a nice touch. Although, nothing in particular really stuck out throughout the first level, just moderately generic platforming, although the game looked pretty interesting, with a few things looking a bit out of place (random bombs in a dungeon? :P). However, things picked up a bit in the second level. There was a bit less of the frustrating jumps, and a few slightly more creative and interesting traps, although not a whole lot of unique things, but it was considerably better. I liked how it was split into several parts, as returning the the hall at the top became harder as you had to set off some traps to get down. Because of this, the game was also longer, because the two levels in the game don't allow for much gameplay, so this added on a bit of time, whilst being frustrating. :3 However, it was still fairly standard of the new PPG games at the moment, and, whilst being pretty good for the short amount of levels, and having some creative traps and puzzles, it wasn't incredibly set apart from some of the many other platforming games, in my opinion. It could've been longer and possibly a few more complicated puzzles, but, it was fairly good. Overall, it was quite fun, although the controls annoyed me to no end, as you could crush yourself by merely lagging out slightly, causing you to run to one side constantly, but apart from that, it wasn't too bad.

Ratings:

Action: 12/20 - Fairly average, although some areas made you have to quickly navigate your way through, or fall to your spiky demise. D:

Puzzles/Traps: 13/20 - Some were quite creative, but not enough to make the game unique.

Placement/Scenery: 16/20 - There was an occurent theme throughout, and everything was made to match it, meaning it created quite an interesting game.

Fun: 13/20 - It was better than most games of this type, but the controls made everything a bit more frustrating.

Overall Experience: 14/20 - It was moderately fun, and the scenery and traps were pretty good. A pretty average score, but, still a good game.

Total: 68/100

Grade: B-

Quite average game with a few flaws, although pretty fun despite these factors.
