This is captainalex, bringing to you another quantity-with-quality review that you can only get from a .:|WD|:. review. Today I will be reviewing a game by babybuster4ever entitled "The Forgotten One". Before I jump into the review, let's get some info on this game and its creator. Babybuster4ever has had 1 featured game, a total of 6,315 views, and has a good awesomeness and feedback rating. This game has gotten a total of 47 views, though I'm sure it will go up with this review. Alright then, time for the review!

Pre-thoughts

Babybuster4ever's games are pretty good in my book, though I haven't played very many of them. The storyline for this game hooks you and makes you want to play it, and not click on another game in the Game Activity list. Here's the storyline: "I've been here too long... It's go time" "No. You can't escape." "I'll be the judge of that" "You're making a stupid mistake" "So be it, then." You have been trapped here, in this nightmarish Hell-Hole. In a desperate attempt to freedom, you leave your friend and all your sanity behind... Sound interesting? It did to me. It's go time, to play this that is.

After-thoughts

Babybuster4ever has created what could be called a work of art. No, not a boring, annoying, pointless art game, but an awesome, engaging platformer with excellent enemy placement and scenery. There are 3 levels, and although they are kind of short, they add up in time, plus it's difficulty makes you keep retrying. The Forgotten One is nearly impossible, but after numerous attempts, I finally beat it. A highlight of this game is that it using yourself against you. I threw a grenade, but a ninja kicked me into and I died (ouch). Threw another grenade, can't get away in time (double ouch).

Enemy placement was very good, thugs and ninjas placed at intervals during the level that are easily beaten but consistently drain your health if you aren't careful. The only way to win in this hard game is to use your shield. Perhaps the best enemy placement was at the short level 3, with a fire troll who you had to get down to quick enough and go right next to him to take him out (because he can't attack you when you're too close to him). The Forgotten One also had a well-placed snarly that could drain your health down halfway because of how the wall tiles are so annoyingly- yet well- placed.

Well that brings me to scenery, which is something I haven't seen used anywhere else on Sploder, though it stops on the last level and goes to a normal type. I think, though, that if babybuster4ever used different types of blocks but the same pattern, it would be even better. Most importantly, scenery kept the mood of the game to go along with the storyline- which, in this case, is dreary and depressing.

The downfall to this game is the traps and puzzles. For puzzles, well, there were none. There was one trap, however, in the first level. You must choose: right, or left? The trap looks just like it isn't one, and leads you to believe the the non-trap path is one when it isn't. In my opinion, puzzles and more traps really would've made The Forgotten One a lot better, and would've made it more addictive as well.

I've talked a little about addictiveness in this review, but I'll sum it up. The storyline is a major plus for addictiveness, but the lack of puzzles was a negative. There only being one trap was also a negative. It seems the awesome feel of this game starts to wear off after dying a few times, because babybuster4ever didn't really add anything to keep the story going. Hmm... I guess that's about it to say about this game, so that means it's time for the ratings!
