Introduction

Ah, zinc... does that username ring a bell? Anyway, I'm reviewing a game for my fortieth time now which will also make a tally of thirty six [MR] that I have created. So then, I have played a few of zinc's game before and they don't seem to be very special. But will he surprise me with an epic game here?

Review

Well, I'll start this off by telling you that no, this game isn't epic. Well, I don't know if zinc thinks this game is epic or not but I do know it's not a very good title choice. I mean, I wouldn't call my game name Epic, or anything like that. It wouldn't make a decent enough title. If it was called something like Epic Revenge For Freedom, that will be more understandable. So this game is pretty much just a go along the path, come across a probe, land on spikes, explode barrels collect health and go along a path, dodge a turret, you get the message, just a load of enemies and hazards all along then re boost to 100% health again. That's nothing really exciting. Adding in something else apart from that would be a good idea. Like some puzzles. Now there is the odd couple of puzzles placed in, but they're nothing very amazing. Even something different like jumping over obstacles, just something different to always coming across enemies and hazards.

So when we come to action, this is better than the game play. Now it can be hard to add in a lot of action in a game, but not when there's a lot of enemies an hazards in. That's probably why the star rating in this game is 4.5 stars, because what players like is a game that they don't find boring. If it was really laggy for example, you'd probably find this game has something like a 3 star vote. I've probably just given you a tip on how to win a contest. What I tend to like in games is the whole game combined though. Now let me explain more about the action in this game. It is a game where you'd have to concentrate on the game a lot instead of just waiting for an elevator or something, but that's because you'll normally be up against an enemy or hazard, but that does make the action better. Although in the later levels, you'll come across a few sand blocks which you might find boring just smashing them, but there's something like spikes under where the player stands to smash them anyway so that adds in extra action.

The placements in this game is nothing too special. There were a few that were completely no point in placing in at all for example the first one, which is the probe, just gets destroyed as soon as the barrels explode, before you even get to the probe, infact, you can't even get to the probe because you need to smash the barrels to get there. What I did like about the enemy placements is that zinc did some creative things with it like placing spikes under a probe with sand blocks near by. Those sort of placements gets the game more exciting. Now we come to the health of this game. There is a lot of health in this game and a lot of it isn't needed. There are a few times where you lose health just to get more health which is just a bit pointless to me. For example where the player go's up a ladder with strips of lava in between then you come across a crystal with a load of health to take you to full health again.

Conclusion

Epic is just an average game in my opinion, certainly not an epic one. Nothing to special and it needs quite a few improvements. Another thing is that this game isn't very challenging either.

Improvements

Different things than just a load of enemies and hazards. It becomes to repetitive. How about something like jumping from one block to another trying not to fall in lava then come across an unique type of puzzle, then add in an enemy or two. Also improve on some of the placements. I'd say the action is fine though.
