This is Miracle Reviews, where we might just see a Miracle Game!

Introduction

Welcome to my 52nd review and my 48th [MR]. Today I'll be reviewing Depression by bluedeathray. I haven't played one of bluedeathray's games before, but looking at his profile, most of his games seem to be platformers, just like this one. This game also has more levels than most of his games and he requested this game to be reviewed. This means I have a feeling this will be his best game yet.

Review

The game starts off with a challenging type of situation. For the start of the game, I didn't really have any idea of where to go, which got me confused. But anyway, after going downwards, I did realise that I took the wrong way first not soon after, which got me thinking that this could be a game that causes a lot of confusion earlier on in the game.

Depression is the sort of game that seems like others. Enemies through out the whole game, quite a few traps and searching for keys. Although it was a game with the usual lot, bluedeathray still managed to make it challenging. I'm not sure how Depression was really made challenging, but quite often I wasn't sure if I was going the right way which probably gave me the challenging feel. Confusion can go well in a lot of games, but in this one it just didn't suit it. Now on to the repetitiveness, Depression wasn't really repetitive. Bluedeathray has added different enemies throughout the first couple of levels, but when I got to level three (the level I failed to complete), the only enemies I came across were robots. Bluedeathray didn't repeat much more. The complete a task of the level, you have to hit switches and get keys. They appeared quite often in Depression, but apart from that, the game didn't repeat anything else.

There are lots of enemies in Depression. Enemies is what made this game a good one though, otherwise it would be a boring game. Lots of the enemies were bunched together though, which ruined parts of the game. I think bluedeathray could of done with adding more hazards as well, maybe some in unexpected positions when going down the path, then the player would be looking out more often. If you're destroying enemies all the time then there isn't much to think about. Like I've mentioned in the review before, there is a whole variety of enemies in the first couple of level. It's a good thing because it makes the game less boring, and another thing is that different enemies have different ways to be destroyed. That is the only thing to think about when destroying the enemies though, so that's another reason why hazards would be a good idea to place in. Well I've been blabbering on about the enemy placement, so now it's time for me to explain my opinion on the health placement. In Depression, lives are what give you more health, but Bluedeathray has added some power ups as well to help you keep more of your health. There wasn't anything much from health that changes how good the score is for placements, so it's not going to ruin or increase the score for the overall placements score from the enemy placement.

There isn't much puzzle in this game at all. I know I said there isn't much to think about, so that's probably given you the idea that there isn't much puzzle. There aren't proper puzzles either. I suppose that you could say that hitting the switches are a puzzle, but you don't need an Einstein to work those sort of things out. I'm not sure if bluedeathray was meant to make this game have puzzle or not, so that's why I'm not going to give it a rating.

Last of all is the action. Enemies is what makes this game action packed. If there were no enemies in Despression, then it would be boring, unless bluedeathray added other things to make it action packed. Most of the time there aren't any breaks where you have to stop to do something, which can get quite annoying after doing a lot of fighting. So overall for the action, it was action packed caused by the enemies.

Ratings (Out of five):

Action: _____/_____

Game Play: ____/_____

Placements: ____/_____

Overall, this game deserves a 4.3/5

Is it feature worthy?

The big question though is "Is this game feature worthy?" In my opinion, yes, it is. The game play and placements were weren't too amazing and I was tempted to give them both a score of three, but the fact that this game is action packed would mean that I think this game will just earn a place on the featured games list. If bluedeathray did improve on the game play and placements I'd definitely think this game is worth a feature. So I would recommend to play this game editors. Bluedeathray has got things to improve on, so I'd like to see a sequel with the improvements.

This has been a Miracle Review!
