Introduction

Welcome to my 53rd review and my 49th [MR]. I'll be reviewing 'The Colouring Puzzle' by probe, as he asked in the [MR] thread on the forums. I have played a few of probe's games before, and his PPG's do seem to be pretty average, based on popular games, just like this one here. This game was featured though, so I'm assuming and hoping to see that this is a decent PPG and that it won't let me down.

Review

The aim of the game is familiar, and pretty basic as well. And that is to get the blocks to the correct positions. The Colouring Puzzle is a game that gets harder the further you progress. The first level is 3x3, then 4x4, so on and so on. Each level was very similar though which started to make the game get a little boring. As well as that made the game boring, probe didn't add anything to entertain you. There could of been something to spice the game up a bit like enemies stopping certain blocks go through a certain path. Something that isn't just moving blocks so you can move other blocks to other positions.

As what would of obviously of been guessed by just looking at the title, the main aspect of the game is puzzle. This is a very challenging puzzle game since you are up against a strict time and you have to think hard about your actions. One mistake and you could of just messed up your progress in the level and run out of time. Challenge makes the game better and probe has done that here with the puzzle. The same type of puzzle is throughout the whole game though which is pretty much the game play. Probe could of changed shapes of designs for each level, so the player would have to come up with a different tactic each time.

Is this game feature worthy?

The big question though is "Is this game feature worthy? In my opinion, no it isn't. I really don't see how this has caught an editor's eye, especially since they look for creativity. This is a very popular game style and probe hasn't added anything different to the actual game itself. Along with the creativity, the placements and game play wasn't very good. What exactly has probe placed in the game that amazes you? What I did like about what he placed is that he actually made the game properly and managed to avoid glitches which I know is hard. And with the game play, the style of the game is just basic. The challenge and puzzle is good though since it was made challenging. This is better than an average game though, but just a long way off worth a feature. I know this is a short review, but I've covered everything I need to cover really.
