Intro: Well, it seems I'm back again for my second review on my new account. This is also a review for the Royal Review Rumble. But that's not why I'm here, I'm here to review one of my favorite games on Sploder, Achromatic by Charismatic. So, let's start the review and let's start your reading of this review.

Pre-thoughts: You know how in my reviews I mention the thumbnail first. And guess what? That's exactly what I'm doing. But when I looked at the thumbnail, I was well...lost in a world of thought. It was blank literally...blank. Besides blockhead it was just a pure white background. Strange indeed I was expecting a more complicated thumbnail like his game Mother. But let's not trail off into the mysterious world of Charismatic who knows how long you'll be there. Of course, we (should) all know who Charismatic is, he has quite a few of features along with two Main Site positions. He is well know for some good things...and some well...not-so good things. But anyway, Achromatic hasn't really got off to a very good start in my opinion, but I may be wrong.

Gameplay: Turns out I was definitely wrong! In fact I was more than just wrong, I was five miles out! I love this game! It is honestly fantastic. Why? It may seem like the simplest of games but is very good, puzzling and hard. The concept was literally jump across blocks, kill enemies and survive while blocks were flashing. Flashing you ask? Yes, Charismatic really put the new graphics feature to his advantage. Charismatic used the graphics to make the blocks disappear and re-appear all the time! It's indeed a very clever use. There isn't many traps in Achromatic nor is there real puzzles, Achromatic is literally all parkour with several enemies trying to kill you, it's not the most complex of game but the concept was excellent and very unique. Also, the game was immensely difficult due to the graphics used, the platforms flashed, even they enemies flashed! Yes, even the enemies flashed. The enemies in the game flashed white! I honestly didn't see the point in making them flash white, it didn't make a difference to the visibility if they stayed white. But seriously, the backgrounds white and they flashed a darker white. I could still hardly see them! I would've liked to see some puzzles however. That would certainly add to the difficulty trying to solve puzzles while everything is flashing. There's a suggestion for Achromatic 3. Yet still, I began to get rather bored after a while. However, it was still a very good game so far.

Scenery: This game didn't need any scenery what's the whether. The effect of the graphics just wouldn't go along with any form of scenery otherwise it would ruin the entire effect! To be fair, that's all I can really say about the scenery.

Puzzles/traps: Like I mentioned before, there wasn't much traps nor puzzles, in fact there was only one puzzle! This puzzle was also very common so that wasn't a high in my opinion. But however the traps were rather frequent yet basic, they were either gaps in the floor taking you back where you were before or lava. Yet they were both effective actually. Despite the fact that they seemed basic, with the graphic support on the blocks making them flash, it was difficult to get the exact landing position. So yet what seemed very simple was actually very well made. So there you go guys, never think something is that simple.

Difficulty: Ha! Difficulty? Hard, hard, hard! This game is actually very difficult, I can get through a decent amount, but I've never finished it. I reckon I've been close at least. Yet again the graphics play a massive role yet again! The graphic usage makes the game shoot up in difficulty along with all the other features.

Ratings:

(Note: I'm cutting out the originality review section as I never say much about it.)

Gameplay: 3.5/5- Simple but effective. Yet, it gets boring towards the end.

Scenery: 5/5 - None, but it just wouldn't fit! No scenery works a charm sometimes.

Puzzles/traps: 2.5/5- Old puzzles and traps, and were very easy to spot. It did add to the difficulty slightly however.

Difficulty: 4.5/5- Hard, that's all I can say.

Originality: 4/5- A very new concept yet I have seen it once or twice before.

Total: 20/25

Feature worthy? I'm unsure on this one. I can understand why it was featured due to it's originality and difficulty. However, the traps and puzzles were extremely basic and the game was to be frank rather boring.

Conclusion: Achromatic by Charismatic is a featured game that shows the utmost potential of graphics, using them to create a fantastic atmosphere around the game. It is well and truly difficult, but I wouldn't recommend you play over and over again.

That's another review from Extremetech, until then. goodbye.
