Hey (h)all,

Here for my first review of 2013 on a game by Ravicale, The Hall. It's my 31st review since I was added as Reviewer early last year. There are many reasons why I decided to review The Hall, such as the fact it was a Robot game, not many quality Robots are made, well, not many Robot games in general at all, it's a game type overshadowed by the Ship. This game has a rushing style, you have to keep moving forward or the time limit will tick down too quickly, resulting in a loss.

In The Hall, you need to time everything to perfection, whether it's throwing bombs while moving forwards to take out the threat of enemies before they can get to you (because in this game, health is crucial) or destroying weak walls to save time from destroying them up close, it all counts to keep some time. There's no time to stop and go back, so you have to be precise and well timed with your movements which I like, it takes critical thinking strategies.

There weren't really any puzzles in the game (I've beaten it so I know), but the game's strict time limit is kind of a puzzle in itself.

The game design with the walls all going forward matched the title perfectly (The Hall). The design was fantastic, the way the layout of the walls were used so it wasn't easy to cheat, the way the enemies where in places where you really couldn't stand them being; it all added up. It was really great to see that the design was probably on of the best parts of the game. Obstacles were also used very well for their proper purposes, to be an obstacle, often in games they're placed meaninglessly, but in The Hall, they're more frustrating in which they're placed to soak up more time.

The action was a brilliant factor added into the game with superb placement and making you fight your enemies in the worse circumstances possible, along with a good variety to make the challenge even more so frustrating. If the game wasn't intense enough as it is with the killing time limit, the action certainly made it as intense as it could be, you'd need to find ways to eliminate the threats before they started taking away your health and time (two of the most important factors needed to win the game).

The Hall was also creative, it wasn't a rip off from another game, I found that it was unique and fun throughout the whole game and it didn't come in waves, I featured it for the reason on how well it was designed and how intense it was, I play it over and over again just for the challenge. If you're looking to sharpen your game player skills, attempt this game, if you can beat this Robot, you can beat any Robot.

Overall: 5/5

I really enjoyed this game, I hope to see some more games like this in the future.
