Thinking About Colors is a game created by georgel

Okay guys, before I start, I just wanted to say I'm pretty annoyed right now. I had half of this review written out and my computer decides to return to the previous page, deleting all the work I'd done. I guess I'm going to have to remember as much as I can.

Well anyway let's begin.

So I stumbled across this game in my 'Friend's Faves' thing on my dashboard, and it looked pretty good. After playing it, I just decided to review it, because I enjoyed this a lot.

Pre-Thoughts

So the thumbnail reminded me of 4Tasks by Gerald123. The name suggested that it could be to do with colours, and the thumbnail looked like a puzzle sort-of thing. Until I found this game, I'd never even heard of Georgel, so I was unsure as to what I should expect. But let's dive into the analysis of the actual game, shall we?

Game-Play

Well, I was right about this game being a puzzle. So the aim of the game is to guide all your coloured bricks to their corresponding-coloured coins. Though there are walls to block you, you can use that colour to break down the walls. There are also pipes that only that coloured brick can travel through.

It's only a 3 level game, but the puzzles take a good few minutes. I ended taking almost 15 minutes to beat it. But the long time limits actually pushed me to rush, to the point of losing a few times. Would I like to see more levels? I would like to see a 4th or even 5th level, but the game's length was acceptable for what was there.

The difficulty seemed right for a game like this. The only hazards were some skulls, and, while not so plentiful, seemed effective and can catch the player out sometimes. There is one skull on level 2 and 3 that moves, and guards the path, but your only weapon is timing.

While I'm sure I've seen this concept a few times, it was very well made, and I saw no flaws in the game-play of Thinking About Colours.

So it's off to a good start, and the game-play seems pretty good. But will it be as good as the other factors, or is this the only good thing?

Design and Visual Appeal

I have to say, Thinking About Colour's design was pretty good. The simplicity fit in well with the fact that it's a puzzle game. And then there's the idea of colours - plain white game, bit of black to mark things on and then you have the vibrant colours of the pipes, players and coins that stand out really well so there was no confusion. The way the levels were designed was good as well. It wasn't rushed at all, and it made for a good mild maze in the game.

The only thing I found though was on level three, where there was an unknown grey coin that served no purpose behind the unnecesary blue door that caged it into its tunnel.

I found the design pretty good, but I can't give the scores out until the end!

Addictiveness

Most puzzle games should be addictive. And I guess I could say that this one was. I could tell that the game had me hooked, because when I lose a game, I'd usually just give up, but this game had the element of the infinte 'one last go' loop, and it helped push me to the finish, even if it did take me a quarter of an hour to finish 3 levels. But like I mentioned earlier, more levels would've made this a bit better, as, while I was glad I managed to get through, I felt slightly disappointed that it was the end of the road.

That's the addictiveness finished, you know what's next!

Final Thoughts

Yes, I did really enjoy playing this game. In fact, I'm hoping Georgel makes a sequel to this! Is Thinking About Colours feature worthy? Hmm, it's a tough one here...but... I'd say it is just about feature worthy, it would beat EGD standards at least, so yeah, as you can tell, I thought this game was great!
