Today I will be reviewing Chromaticity by Youngcaliman.

Pre-Thoughts:

Youngcaliman is a very experienced game maker as we can tell by his great games. Following many features, Youngcaliman has very well made Physics games. When this came out, I was wondering if it would live up to it's expectations. The name wasn't very promising, but we'll have to play the game to find out if it is.

Review:

This game was very well though up. The puzzles and enemies were well thought up, and very well placed. Once you start, you have a blue block and a red block. The blue block can move freely, while the red can only slide. He forced you to use the blocks in a logic, hard, and very well thought up way. Seems easy right? But theres a twist. Red blocks can only unlock and go through red doors, and the blue blocks can only go through/unlock blue doors. I like how he makes you use the blocks in a combining effort to get the coins. Once you advance foward a bit in the game, I met a new character, the green block, which can only jump upwards. I like how he warps the playfield around the players, to make it not only possible, but insanely hard and fun. I know this was a really cool game, but even really cool games have bumps and scratches, and this game had a few. But I expect Youngcaliman to repare those bumps and scratches in his upcoming games.

In one of the tags, someone posted confusing. In my opinion, I agree....to an extend. I think he could have been more specific on how every thing works. He explained how the blocks moved, but I think he could've gone into greater detail on how they can have a combining effort. Another 'con' about this game, is the difficulty. Most people could get to the third level and no farther. Youngcaliman was saying the last levels where the best, but if nobody can get past the third level, how are they going to know what the last levels even look like? I was one of the few that got to get to the last levels, and they where great. But I think youngcaliman could've got alot more from this game if they levels were a tad bit easier. Now lets move on to the next part of the review.

This was a great game Youngcaliman, it met my expectations. My only suggestion is that you lower the difficulty, so that others can see the rest of your puzzle, trap, and very unique types of games. Another thing, is add a little bit of action, because this game was lacking it. Lastly, add a more graphical, lively scenary to your next games, because when you add more action and scenary, the game players don't get bored as fast. I could understand no action in a puzzle game, but it would make it a bit more lively. Overall, keep up with the great puzzles, and keep making great games like this one.

The design of this game, not only is inspiring, but is one of the best out there today in my opinion. The way Youngcaliman used the blocks to help each other in order to win, is great. I would never have thought of using only one action per player to make it more challenging. Although the design was great, it got a little repetitive once you get farther on which to me, gets a little boring. It also, like I said, it also got a little too confusing for the average gamer to handle. I didn't like that about this game. But all-in-all, the design was above average.

The creativity was fabulous. Youngcaliman usually adds a creative twists to his games, and in this game, he definitely pasted my expectations for creativity. I always like that about game makers, the creative twists in their games. You can compair this to alot of great creative games out there. Now, let me tell you the 'cons' of the creativity. In some games, the game maker 'over does' the creativity. In my opinion, Youngcaliman did to an extent. You see, the creativity was great, but at some parts, I think he stretched out that imagination a little to far. Like on the last level, I couldn't complete it, because I had no clue what was going on. A couple of days after, he made a walkthrough video. I specifically watched how he played the last level. I couldn't understand how anybody could have known how to do that without the video. So I think he stretched out the creativity/imagination a little to far there, which isn't a horrible thing.

Pros:

Very well made design.

Awesome puzzles.

Great creativity.

Cons:

Not the best action.

A little too difficult.

Puzzle: 9/10

Action: 5/10

Addictiveness: 8/10

Creativity: 9/10

Overall: 8.5/10

Great game Youngcaliman!
