Sansander97’s 23 Review

I will be reviewing Rawr II. by empoleon. It has been requested in the BHR alliance reviewing thread. I find it kind of ironic how both empoleon and I own the BHR alliance yet we can request reviews. Lol, I should do that when I get the chance. Empoleon, this one’s for you.

Game Play

Rawr II begins with a unique layout and obstacle course. The first thing I notice is that there are 6 extra lives hovering above the ground on the right side of me. I figured that I could use this to my strong advantage yet I knew that there was going to be a hard challenge ahead of me. I grabbed 3 out of the 6 hearts (the most that you can carry) and went right soon to find that I need a green key to get to the teleporter. I retraced my steps and jumped off of the mini staircase and went right again. I then encountered a dog saying that ahead is a few drops. I figured that “drops” must mean actual drop offs. I then had to ride a slider across a lava pool. This proved to be a difficult task for me for some strange reason. I am usually good at hoping on a slider but not on this game for some reason. I did manage to get on the slier and ride my way to a drop off. Once at the bottom of the drop off, I encountered a small lava volcano and many enemies.

Name

Rawr is a great name for a great game. It is a text lingo that is used in the Sploder Community Forums. Empoleon uses it from time to time. Rawr was a great game so I knew that Rawr II was going to have to live up to Rawr’s standards or be better than the original.

Scenery

The scenery in Rawr II gets kind of repetitive after a while. But as mentioned in a previous review, I do like red tiles. I feel that they draw me into the game. There are a few “This Way” signs in Rawr II near the beginning but I wish that they weren’t there. They take away from the all-red feeling that is portrayed at the beginning of this game.

Challenges, Puzzles & Traps

Rawr II gets very challenging once you drop down into the tunnel. The mini lava pool that I was having trouble getting on the slider for was actually quite difficult. But I’m sure other players would be able to hop on the slider without a sweat. Rawr II has many extra rooms and parts in the game that lead you to more power ups and items that help you. You also need to access some of these rooms to receive some of the crystals.

Fun

Rawr II is not as fun as I had hoped. I was looking forward to a game that could stand toe to toe with Rawr and beat it but this game hasn’t done so. The addition of more weapons at parts such as the drop offs would enhance the amount of fun in Rawr II. I do find it fun to try to get passed the laser beams to the left of the first staircase.

Suggestions

1. Take out the unneeded “This Way” signs.

2. Add a few more drop offs.

3. Add more weapons to the game for use in difficult parts.

My Final Burn

Even though this game didn’t live up to the original Rawr, it did prove to be quite the entertainer. I found myself trying to pass by the enemies at the end of the first drop off for over 20 minutes.
