Sansander97’s 25th Review

I will be reviewing Your Nightmare II by elroysice. It has been suggested in the BHR Reviewing thread. Elroysice says that this game is one of his best platformer games. I realized that this may be true because “Your Nightmare” was one of my favorites. Elroysice created this game on July 13th of 2010 so it isn’t especially new. But I have never actually played it anyway. Okkeny already reviewed this game but I feel that his review was less than spectacular (no offence).

Your Nightmare II is an amazing game. It is also very entertaining. I think that the “dark” theme portrayed in Your Nightmare II gives the game a unique feeling of terror and fear. You start with some strange looking wall blocks on either side of you. You also receive a grapple. Sense wall climbing this beginning area is virtually impossible, I decided to use the grapple to my advantage. I then received a torch and a shield. This game is pretty set on the “dark” theme hence the nightmare aspect. I feel that the torch is unneeded because once you receive the shield, there is really no reason to switch back to the torch. I noticed that there was a blue key on the other side of the drop off but it was guarded with perm blocks. Once I fell down the drop off, I encountered a ninja boy and the invisible perm switch. The ninja boy was placed really well; right at the end of the drop off. It took me a while to actually find the perm switches at the bottom of the drop off. The perm switch is inside of the normal floor tile which makes for an interesting challenge. Also, once you hit the perm switch a frowny face on the left of you appears. In order to progress forward, you must go right and have the green perm block deactivated. But here’s the catch. The green perm switch is in the same spot that the red perm switch is. It is a challenge to deactivate both sets of perm blocks. I would use your torch for this one. I don’t quite know how to deactivate both switches though. But I’m sure it has been done before. Elroysice wants this game in the EGD (Epic Game Drop). I think it may just be entered and it may go a long way.

Your Nightmare uses a ton of scenery items. In elroysice’s description, he says that the game has exactly 2,500 items involved in it. He also said that this game happens to be one of his biggest games. A giant game with a giant amount of scenery can only mean greatness. The strange feeling that you get when you see the strangely shaped wall blocks is truly sensational. I always wondered where these blocks are located in the block selector and I have yet to find them. Many neatly colored background blocks are visible later in the game with the use of the torch.

This game is very epic; an epic win that is. I love how elroysice used the different block style to make the game unique and stand out. I really can’t think of anything bad to say about this game at all. And with 2,500 items involved in Your Nightmare II, its no wonder that elroysice thought of it being in the EGD. The actual name of the game is genius and the theme complements it.

Description Given:

“After about a month, the sequal the epic game "Your Nightmare" is back, with a beginning that uses the grapple a lot. Good luck with this thriller; it has exactly 2500 pieces, making it one of my BIGGEST games. This is my EGD game. For those of you who are outside of the forums, EGD(Epic Game Drop) Day is the day where we all publish a big game project. This year, it's the 13th of July. If you don't see this getting featured, it's because EGD games have their chance to get featured on a seperate day. Mine is the 19th. Let's hope it makes it! Some of these games will even make to the EGL(Epic Game Library).”

My Final Burn:

This game has inspired me to create some new games of my own. I feel that Your Nightmare II may even deserve a spot in the EGL. Incredible job elroysice!
