...

Hello there. Today my name's textlabel (yup, yesterday my name was Bob) and I'm going to be reviewing a pretty neat game created by the one and only Shadross titled "Solar Sniper 2.0 A Newer Era". I've played some of Shad's games in the past (Squashawut being the latest) and from what I've seen previously, my expectations were reasonably high. I had enjoyed Squashawut very much and I hoped I'd enjoy Solar Sniper 2.0 just as much - but did I? Well, if you really wanted to know you'd read on. So read on.

If you'd have been in the same room as me when I saw the thumbnail, you'd probably have said something like, "Text, are you alright?" - my face was probably quite a picture. The thumbnail was honestly absolutely amazing. I wasn't expecting a very good thumbnail (if one at all) because Squashawut hadn't been given one, but whoa. Just from looking at the thumbnail, my expectations had been met and I couldn't wait to start the game. The thumbnail contained the words "Solar Sniper 2.0" (no way?) with a fictional-looking robot holding a sniper in his right hand.

Once you got past that amazing title screen, you would know your expectations had been met - well, at least the scenery expectations. As a matter of fact, I legitimately fell right off my chair and onto the floor. You start off in a forest-like atmosphere. The scenery was fantastic and made it look almost like it was a game you'd see in the shops. There are mountains in the background, oldish looking stone blocks, decent-looking bushes, vines and even very little neat details like insects that the average creator wouldn't think of adding. In level one there is some dark but easy to read text that helps you along your journey. There are also other awesome little details like puddles in the background, but there are so many I won't mention them all.

The gameplay was not your average player with a gun which, if I'm honest, is what I expected. Though I've seen some of Shad's shooter PPGs and they're all of a high quality. Your name is obliviously Solar Sniper and your mission is to kill "Death", who apparently your father had fought numerous times. One thing I really, really like about this game is its original twist - the fact that your bullets get destroyed in the shadows (which also look really nice), and that you've got enemies walking in and out of the shadows and are sometimes difficult to kill. But that's not it. Every other level is a foe you have to defeat. The first few bosses are pretty easy, but as you advance through them they start to become tricky. Take the first enemy for example. It's a plant that has poisonous thorns, but you can shoot it without getting too close. Level five's boss is pretty unique too, due to the fact it corners you if you take too long to defeat it, but it still gives you a lot of time to kill it first. In Solar Sniper, there aren't really any puzzles (though that's probably due to the game being more of an action/shooter game), but Shad still could've, somehow, implemented a couple of quick puzzles.

Now that I've expressed my thoughts on the game, let us continue onto the scoring:

Addictiveness: ___.5 / _____

Gameplay: ____ / _____

Visual appearance: ____.5 / _____

Challenge: ___.5 / _____

Overall: ____ / _____

To conclude my review, I'd like to say that I definitely agree with the feature of this game and I certainly recommend it to anybody who is into sci-fi shooters. I can't wait to see what Shadross has in store for us for his next PPG game, but until then, toodaloo!
