Sonic returns from his vacation on Planet Freedom to his home world, Mobius. While he was gone Dr. Robotnik built the Hypno-Egg, a device which has hypnotized the inhabitants of Mobius into doing his bidding. Defeat them and collect the chaos emeralds to gain the power to destroy the Hypno-Egg and put things back the way they were.
